I don’t know if this was told to you guys, but the reason Emilia was insane was because someone hid Subaru’s letter and she thought she was completely abandoned, leading to her undergoing the trial multiple times in a row until her mind broke

Cos after he beats the shit out of him Roswaal says "after all that, you have no mind to start over?" That's probably why he didn't want to kill him. He wanted to force Subaru to reset, not realising he has to die for the reset to trigger.

So everyone whenever Subaru uses a non Japanese world is confused by it as a minor world building detail, but Roswall being as smart as he is can deduct the mening from context and started using some of the words Subaru uses correctly.

He knows Subaru can reset, but does not know that death is the trigger for him to reset. (TLDR) Roswall knows Subaru can somehow reset, but does not know the method by which Subaru can trigger a reset.

(TLDR) Yin Magic = Shadow Magic Yang Magic = Light Magic So is Yin magic is not referring to literal shadows. (Also Love the reactions)
