Time to vote/Quick update
Added 2025-02-02 17:02:34 +0000 UTCJust to let you know that this week I'm working on a Midsommar Youtube/Patreon video and also finishing off True Detective S01 for Patreon. After that I'll be getting started on planning out Beau properly and working on whatever the below poll decides for Patreon content.
I'm not abandoning our normal method of suggestions and upvotes, but there's been a few titles that keep coming up, or I've said I'll watch, and so I want to just have a vote between them to get at least one cleared off. We'll give it a similar treatment as we did for Longlegs/Suspiria/The Substance. At least to the best of my ability - I'll reiterate that I know absolutely nothing about anime.

Haunting of Hill House is one of my favorite shows ever, so that was an easy vote. However, and I can't believe I've never seen anyone mention it here, I believe Sharp Objects, another brilliant hbo show, would be an incredible journey for an expert analyst like Novum. I'll probably mention it a couple of times whenever I get the chance, the show is painfully underrated. In a way it's a great companion piece to True Detective, it really fits the southern gothic theme.

2025-02-03 10:15:12 +0000 UTCParasite & The Boy and the Heron are already on my watchlist, so I'm inclined to pick one of those, but I did hear you say these are not the choices you would make for yourself due to lack of cultural context. I just googled synopsis for The Northman - sounds just like The Lion King/Hamlet, a good classic story, and there's a big interest in Norse mythology right now if my social medis is anything to go by, so this sounds like a video that could appeal to the masses moreso than say The Lighthouse, which feels a little niche and is probably still my favorite one of your videos :) I also googled the synopsis for Heretic, and that one is apparently super recent, so if you enjoyed it and thought it was well made, I think it would be a wise choice to cover with a video too. Maybe I'm missing the point though if you're trying to make a Patron-only video and I'm thinking of subscriber growth? 😅 Regardless which video you make, I will see the film and happily listen to your thoughts on it, you've not led me astray so far!

2025-02-03 00:15:25 +0000 UTCI completely heard what you said in, I think your q & a, about never wanting to do a Parasite video because doing such a deep dive like you do into a culture you’re not familiar with would just completely consume your life, I get why you don’t want to go down that rabbit hole. But that’s the exact kind of rabbit hole where I do yearn for someone smarter than me to just explain everything to me in a video I can hyperfixate on. TLDR I know you don’t want to do it and I accept that but would LOVE to watch that!

2025-02-02 17:49:27 +0000 UTCHeretic just because I watched a 90 min commentary and analysis vid from an ExMormon/former Mormon missionary "sister" last night (https://youtu.be/j5wpy7ZGfK4) which gave me a renewed interest in the movie. She gets into the nitty gritty of the experience of serving a mission and how that informs Heretic's premise which made me appreciate it a lot more than I did on my initial watch.
