Getting Kidnapped to Make Movies For North Korea
Added 2025-09-22 15:09:12 +0000 UTCYes, the North Korean regime under Kim Jong-il kidnapped South Korean actress Choi Eun-hee and her ex-husband, filmmaker Shin Sang-ok, to force them to make films to improve North Korea's cinema industry, which was an obsession for Kim Jong-il. The couple was reunited in North Korea years after their separate abductions and eventually made several films before escaping to the U.S. Embassy in Vienna in 1986. The story of how we get there is wild

How about an episode about the Iranian hostage crisis that debunks 'Argo'.

So every time he came through, Shin knew he'd have to send his crew out to buy new equipment. Lol. They even made special efforts to distract him and keep him from touching the cameras and audio equipment after the first time this happened because replacing those things could actually shut down production! πππ
