Flexible Trilobite

Hi everyone!

I created a design for paleontology enthusiasts and, of course, 3D printing.

I based my design on a photo of the Phacops rana fossil.

My version consists of 31 parts and is quite flexible.

Previously, it was challenging to design something like this because printing multiple connections took three times longer. A lot of time was spent on 3D printing test models rather than on redesign.

Since the model has many small, unconnected parts with a small contact area on the 3D printer's build plate, I used a bit of glue 💧.

The print looks great on both regular and silk PLA.

This design is available on MakerWorld, where I posted it as an exclusive.

In the description, I stretched the truth a bit about the "interesting project"—don’t take it too seriously, but everything else is true 😐🦖

According to the survey I conducted earlier, this platform clearly has an edge. However, the traffic to my designs there is minimal, and I don’t fully understand their recommendation algorithms. Right now, I’m experimenting by publishing my popular designs there and making some of them exclusive. I created the trilobite design for a suitable contest, as in such places the model might have a chance to be featured in recommendations.

In the survey, Thangs.com wasn’t particularly popular, but I was more interested in the opinion of those who download the designs. Designers speak positively about this platform. Slowly but surely, I’m also publishing my designs there.
