What's to come
Added 2023-01-29 13:04:52 +0000 UTCHey guys! I hope you are all having a wonderful start to the new year and I’m personally glad 2022 is over. I’m not usually a “new year-new start!” kind of person, but I really feel it this year and I hope the positive feeling lasts. Anyway, I wanted to update you on what’s coming up with my channel.
As an experiment, I’d like to release a good amount of YouTube Shorts in February to see how they do when it comes to views, if viewers like them (if they even watch them, lol,) and if it results in any channel growth. YouTube will be monetizing them next month so I would imagine they will be pushing shorts more so than videos around then, so we’ll see. I’ve been working on those and I gotta say, it is freeing and kind of fun to have only 60 seconds to work with for a topic. After posting them on YT, I’ll probably also post some on Instagram reels and tiktok too.
To give you a sample, here’s a short I did based on a tip from an old issue of Nintendo Power (I’ll be doing a few others like this too based on Nintendo Power tips.) I might re-record this since the music seems slightly too loud but basically this is an example of some them:

The other two NP tips I've recorded are related to Super Mario World, which is cool since I barely have any Mario content on my channel lol.
I’ve also recorded one where I give an upclose look at my Hello Kitty Dreamcast and my Casio Loopy. I feel like this is a good way to show off parts of my collection that don’t warrant an entire video, ya know? And feel free to leave any comments bellow of things you’d like to see me do as shorts! (Something from my collection, a topic, etc.) And all though I’ve already done a pretty in-depth video covering the Vectrex, I’m currently working on a mini version of that for a short. I still need to shoot it though but the voice-over is recorded.
But don’t worry, I STILL have real normal-length videos on the brain! And if you’ve been watching my streams, you could probably guess that Splatterhouse on TG-16 will have something to do with it lol. I feel like I am SUPER close to beating it and once I do, I’d like to go through it a few more times to get comfortable with it. My goal would be to record a “how to beat it” type of video in the style of a letsplay. But my first thought would be to do a video based on 10 of my favorite enemies/bosses from the game. We'll see what happens :)
And speaking of letsplays, I realize I didn’t really do any on my main YT channel at all in 2022. I was just super focused on creating scripted content, and felt that streaming satisfied the gameplay aspect of my content for me. But I’ve been missing making letsplays because they are a totally different vibe from a stream upload, and I’ve read comments here from some of you saying that your favorite/most memorable videos of mine are the letsplays. So all that being said, expect some classic “Erin Plays-style” letsplays coming soon. My goal is to do ones on games that aren’t super long, or that wont be too grueling. I have a few ideas but I want to mess with them first before committing to the idea and mentioning it here lol. And as always, if there’s a game you think would be good for a letsplay video please feel free to comment bellow!
Also wacky “top 10’s” I’d like to do more of. This post is a bit all over the place. I’m going off a outline I wrote for myself in hopes it would help make this post more concise, but it didn’t seem to work lol. If you read this entire thing, thank you! And if you didn’t, that’s okay too. We all have busy lives and thank you SO much for supporting my channel for another year.
See ya on the internet! - Erin

2023-01-29 23:47:35 +0000 UTCI've been playing a lot of the original Splatterhouse on MAME and I've forgotten how truly hard that game really is. I must have put like ten dollars worth of credits into the game. Those underwater levels man... The Mario World tips seem appropriate now with the Mario Bros movie coming out soon, and a Casio Loopy video sounds interesting too.
