Didact (Warrior-Servant) was able to marry The Librarian (a scholar, I forget that caste name). It was heavily-discouraged and looked down upon but wasn't a actual Crime (as far as I recall). For the Tau, caste mixing goes beyond just a crime to the point of bordering on a sin, even.
