Anvil107(probably): DCM 1911 checkout and parkerize

3, and if you squint, 4 different colors of phosphatizing on the same collection of parts. In this episode, we show the process of making everything really dark grey. You know, like it was supposed to look.....

This is a recent acquisition from the DCM. As received, it was clean, straight, and properly toleranced. A really nice example of a representative WW2 government .45; all we did was make it look good.

Enjoy all of your videos, you are a carbon based life form

Mark I just wanted to say I’m a huge fan of your work! Thank you for sharing it with us

Outstanding!

The cans like Mark's 'Harbor Freight Special' is made by Eagle. On ebay, search 'EAGLE BENCH CAN.' Many available. I bought one, but currently don't use it. Worried that it won't seal the kerosene fumes enough for my workshop inside my house. I use a large gallon+ jar from Walmart, with the plastic gasket and slide on lid. Don't drop heavy metal items to the bottom, trust me, eventually it cracks. And just saw comment above mine called out Bench Cans as well.

Justrite Metal Bench Can…. I thinks that’s the same as you use for kerosene?

Love it! Merry Christmas!

I would LOVE to see you do an Anvil on the Browning A5 and how to properly maintain it, and what to look for and look out for. Keep up the stellar work good sir. I am happy to send you a few bucks for such great info and entertaining content.

Nice! I got a M1911 made in 1919 from the program. Mine is silver in color too. Wish it was darker, but it functions fine.

Great video - Be interesting to see how using this as a base coat for bluing looks.

I take it that the finish, which is lost in bead blasting is more than made up by the new finish.

ReMARKable project. Can't wait to share it. Merry Merry Mark.

That looks fantastic!!!!

Amazing job, and the Glen Miller is period perfect! Love the return of music to an episode. Thank you sir, and Merry Christmas to you, Bruno and your families!

Great video. Why is it called “Parkerizing”? Guessing it was invented by someone named Parker, but a little history lesson never hurt anyone.

I assume you meant the CMP, as DCM stopped existing in 1996 when all government funding was cut.

superb video, with just the right touch of humor :D

All you did was make it look good? Good job then! I would expect nothing less from you master gunsmith. Any rumors out there about the availability of large rifle primers? I have about 250 rounds of rifle brass that I would like to reload- been looking for primers and the hoarders have apparently swept them from the market - sad - Jim Woodward - the Okie
