Anvil 108: 1910/21 Bergmann Bayard rework and run

Nothing mechanically "wrong" here, just a deferred maintenance save from the scrap pile. Oxidized WD40 balled up like snot, and a finish that had been destroyed at least twice. Like the Hahn, we were just trying for the 3 foot away smell test, and I think we got there.

Yes, this is 108, 107 is being filmed and edited concurrently and will be dropped first, during the Christmahankwanzzicus break. They just line up better from a teaching standpoint.

The plan is to demonstrate 4 types of metal finishes. Parkerizing, hot water rust, cold rust, and painted finishes. This unit was hotwater blued, a 1911 (Anvil107) is parkerized, two 1873 peacemakers cold/slow rust blued, and maybe a STEN or an 870 for the paint.

We are trying to make it all make sense. You really don't know a topic until you try to teach it. And....I SUCK at chemistry to boot

Now now Mark, I think you’re in the wrong site to be posting material that’ll rustle some jimmies. Lol. Great work. Love seeing these old pieces getting brought back with the respect they deserve. Merry Christmas boys

Today you could make the whole thing in one piece with 3D metal printing in the same quality. Not a solution for 20.000 guns but for a few hundred this would be relatively easy to do.

Thanks so much for what you are doing. It is wonderful to see these old firearms put back into operating order and to receive a gunsmith's interpretation of the thought processes behind their design and operation. Wishing y'all a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year!

Robert Borger

Oops. Hit enter mid-sentence. They offer 4 barrels of differing calibers for this pistol. Merry Christmas Guys!

Oh Mark & Bruno, It is so beautiful to see these weapons being saved. Mark I have a pair of Steyr Hahns I would like to be "tuned" up a little. Would you be amenable to doing this work? Please send an e-mail (I'm sure you have it in Patreon somewhere) if you would consider doing some work for me sir. It's possible that it might be a good episode as well. Steyr still carries the Hahn in thier catalog as their "Classic" model.

Another fine resurrection, well done.

A pleasure as always Mark. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

What the two guys above said. Take that algorithm

I did not know you paint the parts with french onion dip? Laughter.

Thank you, Mark and Bruno, always a pleasure to watch you work. We need to get a Marlin 56/57 or 62 on your show!

Thanks Mark and Bruno and Merry Christmas.

Jeffrey Hartman

watching you work is always amazing
