Hot Hot Hot! | The Friday Update

Welcome to this week’s edition of the Friday Update, in which I give a little insight into what I’ve been up to for the past seven days.This week

The past couple of weeks have been pretty hectic as we’ve been putting the final touches to the next video.

Given the piece is about Uber, we spent Thursday and Friday of last week doing a tour of taxi ranks around Plymouth to film pieces-to-camera which was fun; but also extremely hot!

We somehow managed to choose to film on what must have been the hottest day of the year so far.

Which often means the footage looks gorgeous. But also that we were boiling throughout.

The second day in particular saw us constantly seeking out shade between every single take to avoid shrivelling up entirely.

In the future, I think we’d definitely look at delaying a day or two—or maybe setting out really, really early!

Last weekend, I also had a slightly different day when I headed up to London for the annual Games Transformed festival of video games and politics.

I’d been asked to chair a panel about union organising in the video games industry. I also was one of the players in a live performance/game about billionaires.

When I wasn’t doing things myself, I also got the chance to play a bunch of games in development and to listen-in on a panel in which Ian from Innuendo Studios spoke about gamergate.

Unfortunately, I was apparently having such a good time that I forgot to take any pictures. So you’ll just have to trust that I was there and that it was good! Definitely one to check out next year if you’re in the UK and that sounds like your kind of thing.

The next video is in its final stages now, and I can’t wait to share it with you!
