Welcome to this week’s edition of the Friday Update, in which I give a little insight into what I’ve been up to for the past seven days.
This week, I’ve spent a lot of time staring at Frame.io.
Frame.io is a video hosting website used by video editors, producers and directors to get feedback on drafts of their work.
It’s a bit like YouTube or Vimeo, but links are private and it allows you to add comments by timestamp. This allows you to write, say, “hey, I’m not sure about the framing of this particular shot, could we adjust it?”, so the editor can then go through, see any notes, and make their amends.
We use frame pretty regularly in making videos for the YouTube channel. And, we’ve also been using it heavily in editing my upcoming film Boomers.
This week has seen a heavy week of work on Boomers collide with making the final touches to my upcoming video on AI theft.
As such, I’ve found myself being constantly bombarded with Frame.io links in order to give feedback on scenes and sequences from both projects!
While this has left me a little bleary-eyed at points, it’s actually been really exciting.
The AI Theft video took shape pretty quickly; and I think Georgia’s done some really great work on making it look cool.
At the very same time, Boomers has gone from being an assemblage of lengthy interviews and footage of me wandering around major world cities, into being a proper film! There’s some bits missing and a lot of work to do on colour, stabilisation and music; but I think it’s going to be really great!
Next week, I’ll be back to staring at Google Docs a lot more to get some scripts done for some future projects. But it’s been fun to be in “director mode” so much this week!
Thanks as ever for your generous support and I’ll look forward to updating you more next week!!
