Homecoming | The Friday Update
Added 2024-09-06 15:14:55 +0000 UTCWelcome to this week’s edition of the Friday Update, in which I give a little insight into what I’ve been up to for the past seven days.
For the past week I’ve had the luxury of being (mostly) at home.
Regularly readers of the Friday Update will know that I’ve been doing a lot of travelling lately. Partly for videos for the channel. Mostly for my upcoming Nebula Original film Boomers.
All of this has been a huge amount of fun; and I’m very lucky to be in a position where I’m able to see a bit of the world. Nevertheless, it can also be pretty chaotic.
Being on the road to film stuff doesn’t mean that my researching, writing and various administrative responsibilities end. So, when not actually filming, I spent a lot of time locked-up in my hotel room trying to catch up on the work I wasn’t doing because I was away.
So, it’s nice to be back at my desk. The work-life balance is much better when at home!
This week, I’ve largely been working on scripts for various projects. I’ve got a pitch for an unannounced project I’m working on which is absorbing a lot of my time.
But, crucially, I’ve also been making the final edits to the script for my next main channel video; which I recorded today!
We’ve worked on some big projects so far this year. The plan for the next few videos is to keep things a little simpler. Hopefully this means more frequent videos, more focussed videos, and a bit less chaos on my end.
The next video is a relatively quick response (at least relative to the rest of my work, which usually takes a long time to brew!) to a current phenomenon which is sweeping the news, media and creator economies, and which could be about to have a massive impact on who is able to contribute to our collective discourse.
