I Got Married | The Friday Update

Welcome to this week’s edition of the Friday Update, in which I give a little insight into what I’ve been up to for the past seven days.

What have I been up to this week?

This one’s gonna be slightly different…

As regular readers of the Friday Update will know, I usually break down my update into a few categories: telling you what I’ve been up to with regard to making videos, telling you a bit about how I’ve spent my free time, and telling you a bit about what I’ve been reading, watching or listening to.

This week has been a bit different as I’ve been away for the week getting married.

This has been a long time coming. My wife (which I’m still getting used to saying) and I have been together for more than a decade and have been engaged for six years. We always knew we wanted to throw a decent party for our friends and family so needed to wait until we had time to plan it (both of us can sometimes get carried away with work!) as well as needing to save enough money to pay for it.

The day itself (and the weeks surrounding it) have been absolutely amazing. It’s so lovely to have the opportunity to spend so much time with friends and family chatting and partying away.

My wife (still feels weird to type!) looked absolutely gorgeous and we were both beaming the whole day through as we ate some gorgeous food, listened to some amazing speeches (mine even turned out alright in the end—it turns out writing all these videos is good practice!) and danced the night away. The weather, which at one point had been predicted to be a total washout, even came out—with glorious sunshine all day through. We’ve not had the photos back yet, but I can’t wait to see them!

Since then, we’ve been off on a mini honeymoon for a few days in Cornwall where we really spoiled ourselves, going to a couple of fancy restaurants and hiring a little boat to go on a little trip up the River Fal.

It’s a little strange to be coming back to work today. I absolutely love this job but it’s still a bit odd to suddenly be sat back at my desk on my own. Typing with a ring on my finger is also a new experience! Nevertheless, I’m sure the sheer joy of the past week will be powering me on for some time to come!
