A Surprise Bonus Video! | The Friday(ish) Update

Welcome to a slightly truncated edition of The Friday Update, in which I give a little insight into what I've been up to for the last seven days.

What have I been up to this week?

Okay, so it's been a couple of weeks since I last wrote one of these update posts. I can only apologise to those of you that enjoy reading them and hope that you'll forgive me. Because, I do have a pretty good reason...

A couple of weeks ago, my forthcoming video about how the media portrays the so-called "trans debate" went into production. I had a couple of busy days and nights setting-up lights, perfecting camera angles and filming my "to-camera" sections of the video.

I then spent sometime putting together a "Production Script" (in which I list the various bits of archive footage and animation I'm keen to see in the video) and sent everything over to the editor I'm currently working with to begin putting together the first draft of the video.

My original plan for the period in which that first draft was being constructed was to push ahead on some research for my next video.

Then I started getting ideas... And, over the past week, I've been working on a special "bonus" video that I'm working night-and-day to release by the end of this working week.

It's been pretty stressful putting it together (as ever, my initial plan to write a 5/10 minute special quickly spiralled into something which is probably closer to 20 minutes.

Nevertheless, I've also really enjoyed re-finding the excitement that used to come with working on a slightly tighter turnaround. There's something really fun about knowing that there's going to be so little time between my coming-up with an idea and it being in front of an audience (you!).

It's definitely given me some food for thought with regard to whether I decide to make more "rapid response" videos in the future.

So, I hope you'll forgive the lack of Friday Updates over the past couple of weeks and my making this one slightly shorter. Hopefully the bonus video will make up for that!
