A slightly different post today...
As some of you may have seen on my YouTube community tab or Instagram page, later this summer, I'm going to be running the London Marathon to raise money for a UK-based charity called Shelter.
Those of you that keep up-to-date with my Friday Update posts will know that I've been doing a lot of running over the past 12 months and finding it a real boon to my mental health (and physical health, I guess—it's not like glaring into the computer all day is doing me much good!) and so I decided I'd try and put it to some broader good too!
Shelter is a charity based in the UK which provides legal support, advice and advocacy to anyone who is facing any kind of uncertainty surrounding housing. This includes anything from renters who are struggling to get their deposits back from their landlords to people who are rough sleeping. Alongside this, they campaign for reforms which would make it harder for bad landlords to take advantage of their tenants and which would ensure more government support for those facing homelessness and housing insecurity.
I made use of Shelter's helpline and drop-in advice sessions back when I was a student and my housemates and I had a bit of a disagreement with our landlord. It was a super minor issue, but being able to talk to proper experts about it was super reassuring.
I'm aware that you are all very, very, very generous in supporting me through Patreon already and so there is absolutely no expectation whatsoever to also support me in this! However it would have felt really weird to avoid mentioning it to you, haha!
