Early Access: Psychoanalytic Theory: WTF?

Psychoanalytic theory is a topic that I've had a lot of requests to cover over the past year or so and here it is!
I was hoping to be able to dig into some Lacan as well as Freud but, given the video was already more than half-an-hour long, I decided I'd save post-Freud psychoanalytic developments for a future video.
It'll be out for everyone else tomorrow but, until then, it's all yours.

If I make a follow-up (which I'd like to but I want to see whether there's the demand for it first), I'm no certain whether I'll do both in one video or separate them out. I need to do a fair bit more reading and try and work out what approach I'm going to take first!

2020-04-24 07:52:27 +0000 UTCYeah, I'm not a massive fan of Freud and went into making this video fairly sceptical. I would say I've come out the other end appreciative of psychoanalysis if not massively enthusiastic about it. some of the writing in this area is gorgeous as you say!

2020-04-16 22:52:39 +0000 UTCI have a lot of beef with Freud but the story of the burning child from the interpretation of dreams is still so touching, and Cathy Caruths discussion of it in Unclaimed Experience is beautiful (if you're into trauma theory I strongly recommend) π
