20,000 Subs!

So, my latest video blew up (relatively for me at least!) which meant that I reached 20,000 subs a little sooner than I thought. Yay!

If you'd have asked me what video was likely to break all my channel's records for views in the first few days, I definitely wouldn't have said a 25 minute history of neoliberalism. Nevertheless, always really exciting to have my belief that people are generally really keen to learn and grapple with complex ideas when presented in the right way confirmed—it is that notion that has been the guiding principle of this channel for a long time after all.

Currently working on my next video in which I'm taking a look at copyright, intellectual property and whether there's a case for abolishing both (or not, I genuinely don't know what my conclusion to this one is!).

After that, I'm going to be either adding an episode to my mini-series on The Society of the Spectacle or putting together a video on Poststructuralism, not certain which will come first.

Welcome to the few people that have joined us over the last few days and thanks to everyone for your ongoing support!

Really glad you've been enjoying my other stuff too! The slightly more free-form video essays are a fairly new thing. My initial hope was that they'd be a bit less research intensive but I just can't help myself, I just really like to ensure everything's really well though through and researched and referenced and I think (?) people appreciate that about my videos. Hoping to get onto some Baudrillard at some point. Have touched on his work once or twice but would love to do a whole video on his work at some point! Cheers!

Thanks Laura!

Congrats man and so well deserved in my opinion! As you already know, this video made me discover your chan and for the last few days I've been watching lots of your work, loving the more philosophical notions centred WTF series- Post structuralism incoming!- though your essays appears to me like a more easy, though especially well researched and to-notched pieces of work, link between philosophy and ideologies on one hand and our current society and politics on the other, speaking from a scientist pov (former physicist and chemist) and complete philosophy scrub until very recently except from some Camus and Sartre stuff. Just finished "Simulacres et Simulation" form Baudrillard enjoying this afternoon's sun- what a striking and disturbing one by he way- and more than once I was thinking about your videos or "Cuck Philosophy" and "Then & Now" work for example while reading his book. Love your energy, enthusiasm and humour . Keep up the good work sir!
