Also, could you expand on the Nike/Colin Kaepernick idea of recuperation? I understood the concept with the Che Guevara example, but would love to hear you talk more about Nike/Kaepernick. Thanks Tom!

(Feel free to reword this question as you’d like as English is my second language). What are the things we can do to try to subvert the Spectacle? Most of the time it feels like an impossible task. It seems to me that being aware of it is not enough, as it’s so easy to fall prey to the Spectacle. As we’re all searching for real connection and true belonging in a world so focused on appearances, I’m tired of the emptiness of TV shows like The Bachelor, but I do find solace in shows like The Great British Baking Show, which feel more honest. How do we escape this seemingly incessant hypnosis from adverts, recuperation and distraction from the real problems?
