Galaxy Quest (part 4)

I love how strange and meta this whole movie has become. There's a lot of ways of connecting disparate threads in a story, and doing it purely thematically is a valid approach. I never would have had the boldness to stick with the Gwen and Alex storyline. Sure, I'd revisit them occasionally, but the notion of fully exploring the theater company story would never have been my instinct. Or if the aliens found none of them, I would absolutely commit to a story about a run-down theater company, but the two independent storylines with no chance of meeting, I don't think I would have the bravery to just stick with them and trust that we'll find a way to make them feel part of a cohesive story. But that's why it's good to have multiple DM's on the show, different storytelling instincts.

What we've ended up with is a strange story about the nature of acting and self, and reality. This is one of the more truly bizarre stories we've told, but weirdly, it's one of my favorites. We're doing something really different and meta. It feels like a Tartovsky movie. And we're having a ton of fun doing it. The show always works best if none of us have any idea where we're going next.

Anyway, that's it for us today. Back in a couple weeks with more Galaxy Quest!
