Rogue Two (Part 1)

Tried a new format here, with teams recording at different times and putting it together in the edit. It doesn't really feel that different to listen to, but on my end it's a world of difference. For one, those 6 or 7 person recording sessions are just so hard to wrangle, to keep the story flowing, to keep everyone engaged when their character might not be on screen for a while, to keep cross-talk down, to manage so many tracks in the edit. More than anything it's just a nightmare to schedule. I mentioned our Clue campaign already; that one has six players (as one might assume) and actually finding a common time for the seven of us has ended up being kind of a nightmare, which is why that campaign has slipped two releases now.

This new format has the fun of getting a lot of my team involved, and space for new guests, without all the difficulties. Plus it opens up some new play possibilities with the players not knowing what's going on in each other's stories. If one of the teams screws up, it will heavily impact the others.

Now this isn't going to work for most campaigns. This one, with the different teams spread out across multiple star systems, it's pretty safe to play forward without ending up needing to wait to see what a different team will do before going on. It may end up being a bit difficult to manage the story's threads if the teams come together, but that's manageable. The greater fear I have is that the teams never come together, and this ends up feeling like three different movies stitched together. But sometimes you just have to trust that you'll make it work. Ultimately what made me decide that this was the way to go was the realization that the three teams all have the same goal: To get the plans to the rebel alliance and keep the rebel's secrets from the empire. Even if the threads don't all end up coming together in an epic climax, the stories are inherently connected, and impact each other at a distance.

Anyway, I really enjoyed this one. I hope you do to.

Want to tag on that I love this format for this style of movie--it felt much more 'cinematic' as we transitioned scene-like between different groups, and I feel like the balance of roleplaying to tabletalk was excellent (and it seemed like every was really engaged since there was less time people were inactive on average, or so it seemed). It sounds like you it felt like you were 'forced' to do it for scheduling purposes but I honestly think it has a ton of upsides for this reroll! Excited for the next part.

This format is so cool! It definitely wouldn't work for some movies, but I'm really enjoying it here! Also, shouts out to the editor and Paulo's transitional narration, because the transitions mostly felt really smooth! Also, the new "guest NPC" idea is fantastic, and I really enjoyed the two guests in this episode! Love that y'all are always trying new things.

I'd probably listen to you guys do the same ol thing for years to come still, but i love that you're doing new shit 💜

The revolving storylines are so cool, it's been working so well so far! So interesting to see the whole cast's familiarity with the series and how that influences the way they play their characters. If the prequels aren't canon, we better get a glimpse at Paolo's replacement prequel canon at some point!

I love the balance from the different teams. It's a really fun way to get a bunch of people involved without getting too overwhelming (although I'm also very excited to see if they ever do overlap!), and each group's chemistry is fantastic!

This is exciting! I was *so* certain they were going to cast Andy as Leia. I'm not disappointed, though.

The different crews worked really well, especially for an epic like Star Wars. I also love the guest NPC idea! Brandon killed it.

Interesting that the prequels aren’t canon for the reroll. I wonder what kind of back story Paulo has worked out in their place?

Super excited to listen to this one! I wait for all of the episodes to be out before I start a movie, so I hope I have to wait for a nice long campaign.

Will Davis

Wow! For some reason, I never put together that Tirami2 would overlap with A New Hope. Can’t wait to see this sprawl out to an entire alternate Star Wars timeline!
