Mighty Ducks part 2

Joz writes:

Hey Friends! Film Reroll is a nominee in upcoming podcast awards, and we hope you’ll get your vote on for us- the more awards we pull in, the easier it is to bring “Reroll Live!” to a con near you! In July there’s only one contest, but there’s four categories! Here’s how to help:

Go to podcastawards.com/app/signup from July 1-31, and vote for Reroll in People’s Choice (which is the overall category), and then specifically in Comedy, Games & Hobbies, and TV & Film. More coming soon- we appreciate you helping us out!

Bear hugs!

Anyway, eps like this, where everything flows and people make fantastic choices and it all naturally comes together so that I edit a grand total of maybe five minutes, make me so proud of this improv machine we’ve built. And you may be asking me, Joz, how did you get here-

*interrupt serene music with record scratch and smash cut to-

“I’ll run Ducks!” I yelled to no one, texting Paulo that I wanted this campaign.

I got this!

I could handle it- my brother-in-law was a hockey player, his dad was a Ranger, I loved the Wings, I know how to survive falling through the ice, and I have driven south to Canada. I have multiple help lines and experience.

I got this.

I did not got this. So of course, I wailed the battle wail bat call send up a flare signal to add another brain to the mix: TIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIM!!

And y’all, Tim timmed. We pored over notes from my bro-in-law and Tim helped me homebrew a hockey lite mechanic that wouldn’t be a total nightmare crunchnini and to create character sheets that were fun to play but not overpowered. He suggested Rerollers who might fit each character. He gave five names. And then I told him.

Yeah no yeah, I’m thinkin twelve.

He did not answer. He laughed.

Paulo may have laughed too, I’ll never know, but after seeing the invite, he did send a gently worded “what the hurk are you doing?!?” To which I said- say it with me now:

I got this.

I’m not sure who’s in control of this insanely looping Zamboni that might also be on fire, but is it fun enough to make it worth it? Yes. Does that mean I’m doing it right? Also yes. Especially when campaigns like this magically gel because the people you work with are actually some of the best in the biz, and everyone just collectively says yes to the story. Ducks, Irregulars, District 5 +5 Lindas, whatever this ice storm is, I’m loving the flaming Zamboride as much as I hope you are enjoying watching this disaster unfold, safely seated behind the plexi.

Smells like team spirit.

You got this. I love the hockey mechanic that Tim worked out and you put into play. And I'm not gonna lie, listening to this podcast, along with reading G.B. Joyce's "The Code" has made me really miss hockey. Looking forward to the new season almost as much as the rest of this series.
