Last Action Hero Part 3

Normally I have so many thoughts about what an episode could have been or where it could have gone or what the challenges were in creating the world that even at 3am when I'm writing these little blurbs as I wait for the upload to complete, I have too many thoughts to get out coherently. But as a player often my only thought is "That was fun."
Jack Slater is kind of a challenging role to play because he's a meme. Last Action Hero sort of exists on two different levels, simultaneously being a parody of an action movie and an actual action movie, and the same is true for Slater himself. It can be hard to find where the line is between a character who within the reality of the movies is ultra-competent and cool but is also kind of a dumbass when the movie is making fun of the notion of an unflappable action hero. But the same is honestly true for the reroll itself, and we often walk that line by making goofball comments in non-canon, or soft-canon, and then giving a real answer of what's really happening. So I tried to walk that line. The movie actually does a nice job with that character, in showing how some of the hard-man tropes are actually coping mechanisms for underlying neuroses. Unfortunately this version of the story hasn't really give me much room for that kind of vulnerability. Mostly because Slater and Danny haven't gotten as close as they do in the movie.
Anyway, it's so good to revisit this world after a two year break. Lisa is an awesome GM, and Kara's Rabbi Jacob is one of my favorite original characters we've ever had in a reroll. Looking forward to part 4!
