The Rock 3

We're back on a quick turn around with more The Rock! This is a fun episode, and then the ending . . . Well, I won't talk about the ending here. Spoilers!

Really enjoyed the chemistry on this team. Really enjoyed the contained nature of the story, and the clarity of the mission goals. We have fun with movies that don't naturally lend themselves to games, but it's nice to return from time to time to movies that do. And in spite of the contained nature of the story, this is a movie that suggests a lot of secrets lying just below the surface, and you can be sure I ran with that.

I think having secrets in my world is part of the fun, it comes naturally for me out of the process of thinking about the reality of the film, and adds sources of texture in how I can populate it. Usually I hide them too well and the players never really interact with those aspects of the world. It's good to hide things well, because if they were stumbling on crazy stuff in every movie it would not feel in keeping with the spirit of the movies themselves. But when they happen to bridge the outskirts of my dark machinery, even in little glimpses as they do in this movie, it adds a sense of depth to the world. They don't even need to actually follow the threads they're presented, it's more about filling in all the nooks and crannies of the map so the players never feel like they've reached the edge of your co-imagined world.

All this talk has reminded me that I need to get you guys more "how to make a reroll" vids. I've gone to stay with some friends during quarantine and I'm currently away from my recording equipment, but I'll see what I can do. At least the project to speed up reroll releases is going well so far.

Speaking of which, there will be another episode in the feed tomorrow. Just a little something-something; a little bonus episode we had fun with and we won't even charge the patreon for, because it's such a small treat. But we hope you like it.

Just want to say that it really bugs me that you deleted or disapproved my comment here. Call me sensitive, but it just doesn’t feel good to be giving money and then having these people that i enjoy listening to essentially convey that what I have to say isn’t good enough to be allowed to exist. Doesn’t feel great but I’m withdrawing my patronship.

Long time listener here and I have to say this is one of my favorite rerolls ever. You guys rocked it.
