The Rock part 2
Added 2020-03-27 02:13:29 +0000 UTCWow guys, the world's gone pretty wild in the last few weeks. We hope you're all doing ok! It can feel crass at times to be doing comedy at a time like this, but sometimes comedy is what we need. I, for one, am very glad to be making this particular dumb show at this particular dumb moment. And from what we've heard from listeners, this type of entertainment is exactly what people locked in their homes are craving. I was really moved to get a lot of messages about how the show is helping people get through their lock-ins. With big productions like sports and movies down for the pandemic, little podcasts are some of the only operations that can continue uninterrupted.
So having said all that, we're gonna try to accelerate our release schedule a bit over the next few weeks. I can't promise that we'll be able to keep it up for long, but we'll try out darndest. If you like/don't like that, let us know in the comments.
The next few episodes are all still from before quarantine-times. But we've started to figure out remote recording. I've always been against it, because I think you can't reproduce the chemistry of people in a room together. But our show has grown other dimensions over the years, and I think there are other aspects of it that we can explore. And there are strengths that the remote format has that being in the same room together can't reproduce easily, so we'll be exploring those areas. We hope you like it.

This morning I got dressed in "outside only" clothes at the front door, put on a n95 face mask, gloves, a toque, and heavy jacket. I said goodbye to my immunocompromised wife, and she said "be safe, I love you" as I left for work. As I stepped out into the largely abandoned streets of my city, cold Atlantic wind cutting at the few patches of skin still exposed, I looked at my phone. "The Rock: Part 2" "Oh fuck yeah!" I chirped, doing a part happy jig and part slip n' slide on a patch of ice, "gon be a good day!" So, yeah, as others are saying over and over: thank you. The world may feel like it's ending but I can still listen to Sean Connery compliment Nicholas Cage's sexy buns. Keep up the good work. Stay safe. Stay strong. Stay sexy. Thank you.
