Blade Runner Part 3
Added 2019-12-23 06:17:39 +0000 UTCBlade Runner is in the can. This one is a real fun mix of moments of pure goofiness and some moments we took deadly serious. Interesting format in that our characters were almost never in the same room together in this whole adventure. It's a format I mostly avoid, but Joz wanted to try it and it can work just fine if the DM is bold and keeps the action tight. In the room it was a lot of fun. That was a fun group and I hope we can get that bunch together again some time.
Meanwhile, behind the scenes we just recorded a ton of episodes this week. (That's why this one's so late.) We had Joz in town for the week, and Andy came up and crashed on my couch, and we just recorded as much as we physically could. We got another episode in of an ongoing campaign we last played this summer, I won't tip my hat as to what movie it is, because we didn't finish it, but it's pretty logistics heavy and it involves six players, so it was a big job to wrangle all of them. We also got the first episode of a new movie GM'd by Joz, with me and Andy as the players, and it might be my favorite individual episode we've done. Didn't finish it tho, so not sure when we'll have it out. We got another episode of an ongoing campaign, and a start on our next big epic campaign, both of those were super fun. I think all told we recorded six episodes in five days (and that was after we cut two sessions we cut because my schedule changed.)
But the episode that's going out next is one we recorded this Thursday when Joz got sick and canceled last second on DMing something. Since the players were already in transit, I got to thinking as to whether I could whip something up last second. (I've had a prepped Breakfast Club in my back pocket for a while, but we didn't have enough players.) Andy and Scott were my players and I really only had about an hour or two to prep, and most of that time would be needed just watching the movie. I realized quickly it would need to be a fairly simple movie, so I didn't have to download too much into my brain. And it would need to be a movie I already knew very well because I was only going to be able to watch it once, and didn't even have time to finish it or pay super close attention (because I was writing character sheets as I wrote.) The movie I chose was Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and it turned out super awesome in my opinion. Really proud of that one, and excited to share it with you next time.
In the meanwhile, enjoy Blade Runner!
