The main thing to talk about with this is that we recorded it literally over a year ago, and then didn't record parts 2 and 3 until about three weeks ago. This is the last of our long-delayed episodes (thought it may happen again in the future).

People are always curious why our schedule is so wacky some times, and why we put movies on the shelf for so long. The answer is really just that the logistics of making this show are more difficult than most podcasts: We need the same cast to continue a movie but we never know how many episodes a movie is going to go, and are usually trying to release a movie continuously, which means not starting to release it until we have completed recording it. Our performers are busy, and several of us are actors who are particularly prone leave town for extended stretches, (but we never record people remotely because its all about the in-the-room dynamic). Add on top of that, we have sponsored episodes, that get highest priority in release, as well as occasional themed episodes, like the halloween eps, and you can imagine that the logistics of scheduling this show are an insane puzzle.

Anyway, pirates is a lot of fun, but you can hear this part 1 that we're farther back in the show's evolution. Carolyn for instance had only been in one other episode when we recorded this (I think). I like this episode a lot, but listening through it, a lot of the progress we have made in understanding the format becomes obvious by hearing the old stuff. Hope you all enjoy it!
