Aladdin Part 1

Well the most immediately interesting thing to say about this episode is that it was recorded over a year ago. Welcome to the scheduling nightmare that is the Film Reroll, this seems as good a time as any to shed some light on why we often end up airing episodes we recorded so long ago, as it seems to be a huge mystery for the listeners.

First thing is, we're all super busy. I'm crazy busy. It's hard to get everyone in a room with multiple hours to spare. The thing that's unique about this show is that we never know how long a movie will go, and each movie requires getting back the exact same configuration of people together. Plus, I don't like to start airing a movie until we've completed recording the whole thing, as I don't want to end up with a half-released movie that we can't book the same people together to record. So to begin with, for longer episodes, the part 1's were always recorded at least a couple months ago.

In the case of Aladdin, right after we recorded this, Andy left town, and Jon got very busy with his work. So I never really had both of the them. More recently I've been able to get the two of them together, but then we had other episodes like Goonies, which were sponsored and so took priority. With all these factors, it ended up being over a year between the recording of part 1 of Aladdin and us getting that same group together for part 2. Revisiting this world has been a hoot.
