Once you get past the bizarre central premise, a lot of Weekend at Bernie's is a tribute to 80's me-decade obsessive hedonistic capitalism. The percentage to which the movie is a parody of that culture is somewhere between 0% and 60%, but the exact number is difficult to determine. Of course our current era's relationship to the 80's is mostly parody, and we have a lot of fun engaging in that spirit. And just letting Pitr and Andy go full banter mode is half the point. This one is us at our most madcap.

Part 1 is mostly silly, but I'm actually really proud of the emergent story that comes out of the full reroll, turning into much more of a character study than the original movie. And a great example of letting minor characters blossom into major ones, and letting minor plot threads pull us in weird directions.
