We moved out, finally. Horror story time PART 1 : )

It's a long story and not an easy one, not the beautiful fairy tale we wish it was. We were looking for a home so we could expand and do more cosplays. Our apartment was too small to continue making cosplay. As you all know I've been working on a kitchen counter for years. Not only that but we had deranged and creepy neighbors and we had to have cameras to protect ourselves. It felt unsafe and unwelcoming.

So there was no doubt, we had to find a home. Since the pandemic, prices of houses doubled to tripled and it's not exaggerated. Ridiculous not subarashii at all.

So for 2 years we were searching and we've seen horrors. Houses with mushrooms, deep water damages, mold, falling apart, infestations. (They were still getting sold at a ridiculous price, can you believe it!) There was even one with a well inside the house, Samara hi 💀💀 Not only houses have issues but people fights for them by bidding higher.

We had a couple of good houses but the agents we had didn't help us secure them and we got outbidded so we've lost them. We got a good agent eventually.

Months were passing fast. At this point, we had to leave the apartment by July 1st. Time was running out and there was nothing for us. It was looking pretty grim and we were afraid of having nowhere to go, imagine. We were around the end of May... The morale at one of the lowest (hold on, it gets worse later).

Until one day, there was a modest house for sale, owned by a little old lady. Turned out to be in a very great city, one that was really near to our current location and so at the second we've seen it up, we immediately scheduled. At this point though we had not much hope.

We visited and we really did like the place and there were no major issues with it. Very intimate, peaceful, hidden and big enough, just outdated. The lady owner was there when we visited and she really bonded with us.
So by the end of the day the agent we had closed on it very short (gave them only one day) and we ended up being only two bidders because of that reason. Thank goodness.

And you won't believe what happened. We bid lower than the other bidder and we still won because the lady liked us so much that she didn't want anybody else to have it. : ) How wholesome is that.

The next challenge was to get the bank to act fast. Banks don't care about the deadlines. And so as we thought the horror ended, we still had to fight to get them to give the financing. It took forever and time ran out and we asked for multiple extensions. Lots of pressure, lots of new bidders who wanted to take over.

When the very last day came, the very last chance we had, it was a friday. Bank never followed up and we ended up devastated. So we went to sleep, miserable. What else could we have done? We pushed so hard and it wasn't enough. It was too late, the bank failed us.

Then in the morning, my phone was on silence so I woke up like a zombie and then realized there was multiple calls. What's going on?

So I read my messages, perplexed. It says "You got the house"
(What do you mean??)
"The bank sent the financing this morning."
(A bloody saturday?? No way)

So we got the house! Seriously, we were so in shock but also so relieved.

.... Hold on

The story doesn't end here... ; )

In the meantime, have some photos of the surroundings of the house to show you how peaceful it is.
For obvious reasons, we can't post a pic of house in here. : )

I'm so happy you finally got a house! Comiseration and solidarity. I'm not sure where you are in the world, but in the states it's very similar. We didn't find a house until I made some concessions on where I'd be willing to live. There were so many places we'd see on a Monday that would be gone by Tuesday because they'd get a cash offer.
