Hello everyone! Time for a new HQRM build!

Here's what we've got this month. First of all, there are four new cards, each of which (except for one) make use of a Fancy New UI element I've created. This element is a popup which can list cards for selection from Any Source. Previously, I've had the ability to allow cards on stage or cards in hand to be selected; cards that are already instantiated and only need to switch to their selection mode. Now, with this new fancy list, I can do things like display all cards in your discard pile for selection. Or all cards in your deck. Or a bunch of cards from anywhere, even outside the deck, the stage, etc. I've implemented this universal card selector for just a couple things. Mostly just interacting with your discard pile. But I've got big plans for other effects, too!

The other new thing is the Veggie Patch! This is a combo experimentation area that can be accessed from the backdoor of the tavern. It allows you to choose your own starting deck and enter into an unwinnable endless mode, featuring custom level art and unique monsters. Why, you ask? I might set some tutorial or story stuff here, but really it's just for players who want to try and figure out their favorite strategies. It feels a little weird right now because I havn't implemented Unlockable Cards. Here's my plan for that: Whenever you start a run, a card set is randomly chosen for the stage. These are the cards that will appear alongside monsters for you to buy on each stage. Based on what character you're currently playing as (there's only Kat, presently,) a small character deck is shuffled into that stage deck. Currently, there's no way to change this small deck. Bite Lip, for example, is one of Kat's cards, and always has a chance of appearing on stage. Eventually, each playable character will be able to unlock cards as they play the game and change what makes up their character deck.

So, in the veggie patch right now, the list of cards available for you to make your starting hand from is completely arbitrary. I included the base starting deck cards, the 4 new cards, and some other random ones. But in the future, the cards available will be ones that have been unlocked.

So those are the Big new things. Here are the small. I fixed the problem where only 1 card set would ever appear when you started a run. (This is why, for all of this month, Portable Pole was available for purchase in the Garden stage, no matter what.) I also added a menu that can end a run in progress. Press ESC during a run to bring up this menu. Currently, it does Nothing other than offer an end-run option, but I'll probably use this for other mid-run settings in the future. Anyway, here's the list:

Another Note: As the push to sterilize the internet gains momentum and all monetized raunchy games are delisted from itchio and payment processors etc continue to target devs and artists, I appreciate your support so damn much. Thank you all for being the coolest patrons ever. I need to make a studio website so that if the Worst should happen, i wont be totally invisible. But for now, i'm gonna try to be more active on bluesky.

Someone needs to seize this opportunity to create a payment processor that isn’t for prude, projecting cunt police while V/MC are being negatively blasted in the media.
