the Succubabe's Bathhouse update
Added 2025-02-12 01:06:56 +0000 UTCOk, I just uploaded a tiny update to the Succubabe's bathhouse that fixes the bug where your deck doesn't clear when you restart. It was the most Gamebreaking bug by far, so I'm doing an update early :D Here are the full notes:
Fixed the bug where the deck doesn't reset when you start a run.
Added card art to "Grovel"
Buffed the "Mirror Form" card
Still looking for as much feedback as possible! Leave it here or on the other post if u got it :D Enjoy this slightly less fucky build, my sweet patrons!

Balance/design thoughts: - Heat is very hard to manage if it builds up. Down Time can steadily remove it, and First Touch can remove a bunch if you get lucky with it. The bosses (and in area 2, the Lesser Succubi) steadily deal Heat to you no matter what you do, and you don't remove any Heat upon finishing a level, meaning you move on to a harder level with a reset deck and leftover Heat. For this reason, finishing a level fast and safe is critical; otherwise your run is doomed even if you beat Drey Mare. - Because of the above, self-Heat builds (Bite Lip, Knifeplay Ninja, Reversal Hex) feel incredibly weak. It's a massive cost for mediocre results. - Card draw is highly unreliable. This is true in any deckbuilder, but with no way to check your draw pile + discard (which I assume is coming in the future), it's not easy to keep track of what's left in your deck, and due to the combo system, you're heavily incentivized to play cards in the right order, at the right time. - The above is compounded by drawing 5 cards upon returning to the stage, which means cards who are predominantly for playing in combat (First Touch, the various cards that deal damage per matching symbol) cannot reliably be drawn in combat, and likewise cards you wanna use on the stage (Mirror Form, anything that's more coins than icons/combat value) cannot reliably be drawn on the stage. I often find myself drawing a new hand in combat early on a level, having nothing of value for that encounter, then losing the fight (taking a small hit of Heat) and returning to the stage to draw a bunch of combat-oriented cards that have no value on the stage. - All of the above ties into the fact that IMO, Down Time is OP. In fact I don't know that you can feasibly clear both levels with any build other than DT spam; any other strategy just accumulates too much Heat in level 1 and leaves you doomed in level 2, even if you try to build DT spam there. Basically, a DT/Caress deck is super cheap, letting you make it work well early (meaning you aren't wasting turns tanking Heat from the boss), DT can remove non-synergistic cards until you have almost-entirely Heart cards, and once you've cleaned your deck up you can choose -1 Heat as your DT effect and it's insanely effective. I was healing almost as much Heat as I gained by the end of each level, I finished level 1 with single-digit Heat leftover. - Honestly it feels really weird that your deck resets at the start of a new level!! I think either you need to fully heal Heat after each level so it's a complete reset before moving on, or you need to keep your deck and treat the whole run as a single steady escalation. Right now you get the worst of both worlds as a player, you pay the cost of struggling in a given level by entering the next with leftover Heat, and you also lose any cool cards you had added to your deck.

2025-03-04 20:33:42 +0000 UTCBug notes on playing this build: - Checking enemies on the field (not in combat) says "Reward: None", but that's inaccurate - The art for Grovel is really cute :3 - Drey Mare's passive is still weird, it deals 2 Heat (not 3) at the end of every round; this includes losing a fight, winning a fight, and passing your turn in the field. She additionally inflicts 3 Heat if you lose to her, specifically (for a total of 5: 3 from losing to her, +2 from her passive) - Host's Oath does not appear to work; selecting two cards and clicking "Accept" just discards HO without inflicting any Heat (the two cards are still highlighted) - The message that displays when you start a run is still incorrect; the one for your first run shows up only if you have finished a run before, and the one meant to show up after you have completed a run shows up only on your first run - Skip/Accept is sometimes incorrectly labeled, though it functions as intended; I'll list examples that I find here - Playing "Glimpse" in combat makes the button say "Skip", no matter how many cards are highlighted - Playing "Glimpse" in combat makes the button say "Accept", no matter how many cards are highlighted - Playing "Mind Break" in combat makes the button say "Skip", no matter how many cards are highlighted - Playing "Piercing Gaze" on the field makes the button say "Skip", no matter how many cards are highlighted - Clicking on the innkeeper while she's cleaning gives "I'll have many questions when I return", even though the player by this point has returned from a run - Cuddle Puddle does not deal any Heat to other monsters on the stage, when used in combat; it only affects the one you are fighting - Oh gosh I had not seen Messy Kiss before, that card art is good 0////0 - Finally beat the first level!! My deck was a "Sweat" (dunno the symbol's name) spam deck, using Lingual Ability and Glimpse. Also, no heal after beating a boss? That's rough!! - Lesser Succubus's passive effect is incorrect, she seems to work like Drey Mare but applies 1 Heat, not the 2 her description states - Looks like when you advance to the second level, your deck resets? Is that intended? - Drey Mare, Lesser Succubus, and presumably other enemies with passive effects seem to apply their passive effects as soon as they spawn - this feels a bit unfair in the case of round-end Heat gain, since you never had an opportunity to prevent that Heat gain before the monster spawned - Using Reversal Hex on the field displays a message saying to select who to deal "heat_taken_this_turn" to, if this could instead say what amount that'll be it'd be super useful - It seems like "Kiss" combos don't work against Knight of the Round Titty? If that's an intended mechanic, it's not made clear - Reversal Hex (used in combat) healed an enemy after I had healed some Heat that combat. Presumably, healing at all is unintended, but also, is it meant to use your net gain/loss of Heat, rather than the total accumulated regardless of how much you healed that round? e.g. if you played First Touch (lose 3 Heat) and Knifeplay Ninja (gain 4 Heat) before playing RH, I feel like it should do 4 damage, not 1. - Kreeper's Escort has "Passive effect: Loss penalty:", doesn't say what it does precisely though, just the trigger. Also in combat, I can see its Victory reward is "deal 10 Heat to the Groundskreeper", but defeating one did not do that; she was at 36/40, so maybe it was bc that'd be overkill to finish the boss?

2025-03-04 20:11:19 +0000 UTCits functioning correctly. Bite Lip is supposed to be cheaper access to Beg but with some added utility and some drawback. It will eventually be integrated into a set of cards that give the player boons based on how much heat they take per turn

2025-02-28 03:46:21 +0000 UTCThe game is very wholesome IMO <3 I'm curious if lip biting work as intended? At one point I thought it caused the player to take 2 heat point outside of combat and the opponent during combat but it seems the player always take two heat points also in combat, making it a lot more dangerous

2025-02-17 20:39:24 +0000 UTCI had a question about sharing screenshots of the game - is it OK to post screenshots to public sites? I can't remember if you've shared any yourself, but I wanted to ask before I post anything. I also wanna draw fanart of some of the characters, so let me know if that's something that's OK to post publicly too, haha!

2025-02-17 15:50:43 +0000 UTCSeconding the Host's Oath thing! It doesn't seem to do anything when I use it.

2025-02-17 08:11:57 +0000 UTCsome notes! - "remove from hand" should probably be reworded to "remove card in hand from deck" or some variation - i was confused whether it was deck thinning (it is!) - The dialogue box to accept card selections at the top is very small, especially on fullscreen - It's pretty unclear in the combo log that moves cannot chain into eachother (which seems to be the current behavior - no idea if it's the intended behavior - First Touch should probably clarify that it only works during combat - Neither rewards nor passive effects seem to be rendering correctly out of combat - Hosts Oath seems broken somehow? When used it just highlights the cards in red and nothing happens.

2025-02-14 23:43:21 +0000 UTCall thoughts in chronological order of me having them: - the light font for the not-dialogue is too light, there's not enough contrast. the dialogue colour is perfect for contrast. - vartouhi = hot - not sure about the Ts in the font. i always think they're Zs. buzzon. hehe. (varzouhi also works well as a name tho) - the dialogue upon opening the door is cut off for me. it says "…that you are worthy to be a ??" and then "you'll meet reoccu[ring] ??" is followed up by "will show up on", etc. - when you choose a reward (card) you have to uncheck the one you checked before you can check a different one, which is slightly annoying - took me a bit to get the game without tutorial, and it's HARD (hehe). maybe i'm also overlooking something, or i'm just not used to deck builder games. is it meant to reshuffle every time when you go from the stage to a fight? that caught me off guard a bit in the beginning. also i didn't really manage to stack coins, idk if that's me or things are just super expensive XD inflation, damn. anyway i enjoyed it very much!! - it's vicious of course that you also get cum points when you win, but also very on brand, so i'll let it slide ;) that's it for first thoughts and bad puns for now. excited to see where this is headed! :D

2025-02-13 23:36:43 +0000 UTCadding a way to block incoming damage or reversing it may help alot or an easier way to gain coin to make buying cards.

2025-02-13 19:37:55 +0000 UTCalso! the frame rate seems to be totally uncapped with no way to change that, so launching this game causes a really loud coil whine from my computer. never heard that before, it was so concerning i had to google it lmao

2025-02-13 02:08:37 +0000 UTCplease add a way to thin the deck. Second Guess is agonizing, the sheer number of rounds that are completely thrown in the garbage because SG is drawn during combat... even one instance of it failing a combat on your behalf can make a whole run unviable given there's no way end a fight with less heat then you started, since even successful combats add heat to the bar.
