Finished a new book!
Added 2020-03-15 14:01:01 +0000 UTCToday I finished The Outsider by Stephen King! I really enjoyed the crime-aspect, but the supernatural element isn't really my style. But of course that's expected with a King book.
Overall it was a good read and easy to get into, just not my favourite.
A sold 3/5, I think!

Next I think I'll try and watch the new HBO adaptation - Apparently it's quite different from the book so it'll be interesting to see what's changed!

You mean l'étranger ?? That is a very weird and good book !! One of the best I have ever read. I have read it in French and Dutch but the French is best. This is one of the books you can not translate. Alanna, did you have to read Albert Camus in French at school ?? I had to and enjoyed it !!

2020-04-01 09:28:32 +0000 UTCThere ate references in every King book to other books. If you don't know you will miss some and others will be confusing. I think he is one of my favourite male authors at writing female characters.

2020-03-17 13:57:23 +0000 UTCI haven't read those! I was a little confused at first why they kept referencing events and characters that we don't meet in The Outsider - but at least you can still enjoy the book without reading the previous stuff. Might go back and read them now, actually!

2020-03-15 14:19:10 +0000 UTCHave you read the Mr Mercedes series that are the precursor to this story? Much more crime based and some really good characters too. Holly Gibney is one of my favourite King characters ever and I have read all his books at least twice!
