Good questions! I find that fish and chips in Canada is very similar to the UK, if not basically the same (although we almost never have mushy peas on offer). Can't say I've had fish and chips in the US before... The fish isn't always cod, but that also depends on where you go (some fish bars here that just do fish and chips have lots of different varieties)

As an American that has never been to the UK, I’m curious if what I’ve been told about fish and chips is true. I’ve been told the chips are both bigger and crisper than most US fries. But not as big as what’s called steak fries. Also been told that the fish is fried crispier than US fried fish. True? Is the fish always cod? How different is Canada’s fish and chips? Is Canada’s more similar to USA or UK?

Disappointed no one has started with the fishing gags. I've heard some great lines.

I have just eaten my dinner and now you post this. I will have to open a bottle of wine to take away my craving for chips now.
