It was still in the transition from communist state, and one of the things that was really noticeable was the Germans in their BMWs speeding around while the local police, in their communist era Skodas, looked on. They didn't have a hope of catching them, so they didn't bother trying. I also know one phrase in Czech, they I don't know how to write it. It means "Please stand clear of the doors, the train is about to leave" and it's said about every 45 seconds on their metro :-)
