I can break the pattern. I went to a school in Milton Keynes, a state comprehensive, where we had no school uniform. We also called the teachers by their first names. It was considered very weird, and everyone I've told this thinks it sounds like anarchy.
Sadly they've abandoned it now, and school uniforms are required.

I have an Australian friend who had a kid here and kept saying that he was going to be sent to public school. No matter how many times I explained that he was sending his boy to state school, he couldn't get it. He also kept getting annoyed by people asking how much he was making as a desktop support engineer if he was sending his boy to public school.
In fairness, it's a stupid system.

Singing hymns in schools is commonly undertaken to meet legal requirements. Oh and when we say "public school" we mean "private school". Hope these both make sense.

I've never heard of them before! At least not in my area of Ontario. I know Walmart has a very tiny "British" section where I think you can buy PG Tips, Marmite, some biscuits - you know, the essentials.

Do you have Save On or Overweightea grocers in Ontario? Out here in British Columbia our Save Ons have an actual Tesco section. They carry many British teas. It’s common to see PG Tips, Twinings, and Bigelow. The video sounds great! Maybe do a biscuit tasting with it?

I don't see what is confusing about having steak and kidney pudding for tea and bread pudding for pudding...
