What's snow?

When you hike in Canada, you need the proper kit:

- heavy duty boots
- a long insulated coat
- gloves (I prefer the ones that you can poke your fingers out when you want to and hide them when you need to)
- scarf tucked inside your coat
- both a large hood and an obnoxiously large furry hat (ear flaps are ideal)

Then you just need a frozen waterfall to stand in front of!

Jesus! Sounds brutal! Balaclavas work as long as they don't get too wet from your own breath and then freeze.

Adventures and Naps

What about the balaclava? Or would it freeze to your face? The coldest I have ever been was when I worked inside a hollowed out factory. No door or windows. Only brick walls and concrete floors. It was colder inside than outside. My beard would freeze. Pieces would break off if I wiped my face. I had on thermals, shirt & pants, coveralls, another layer of insulated coveralls, a coat, 2 pairs of gloves, a hard hat liner with face protection and a hard hat. Even then we could only work for about 10 minutes before we had to walk over to one of those kerosene heaters that look like a mini jet engine to warm up.

The Raven

Worth every penny and you can spend a lot of those if you aren't careful.
