2025-05-24 13:13:00 +0000 UTCI went to school from 2016-2020 so no ChatGPT but man did this sound familiar. I LOVED college and not for the partying, I tend to be an introvert in that regard. But I love to learn and I felt like I was in an envirornment for that for the first time. I loved carrying my books around and taking notes. I was a journalism, poli sci and history guy so I really enjoyed the academic nature of it all. But I was always disappointed by those around me who treated the actual learning as a burden instead of the whole point, especially when they were supposedly heading into the same fields as me. Can become pretty insulting when the person sitting next to you in three different classes repeatedly tells you none of this matters, the work is stupid, the field is boring and the professors suck. Most of my professors were highly respected experts in their field and students would get mad they were expected to actually learn as if the professors were just supposed to aid in their 4 years of boozing. To each their own in the end, I suppose. The real issue is the system that directs these people who clearly don't have interest in the academics to still spend tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars to go through the motions.
