To add to what Jarvis shared on the hate crime that happened in Germany in 2005: His name is Oury Jalloh. He was a Black man and seeking asylum in Germany and he was murdered. I haven’t heard this be discussed internationally, so this felt good in a weird way.

Where’s episode #97?

Cassian Drake

since the end of the last youtube ep i haven't been able to stop saying "stay focused, stay locusts" 'cause i had misheard Jarvis saying it that way 😭

I grew up in Colorado post-Columbine and we had school assemblies with talks from survivors and every year got play by plays of the event and we were shown real footage. As CHILDREN! (Same with 9/11). Needless to say it was probably a terrible thing to put kids through. And then the Dark Night Rises shooting was when I was in high school also in Colorado... Yeah basically I'm part of an entire traumatized generation and I think a lot of it was fear pumped into us by adults which wasn't a reasonable response. The constant campaign from us has alway been better mental health resources and rethinking the stressful school system - and the only response it ever felt we got was more police in schools. Which just felt even scarier.

hello I lived in Cirencester for 19 years and went to ciren college I know what you're talking about Jordan and you're so valid for that

When i was a freshman in high school we had a lockdown, which thankfully ended up being a false alarm, but at the time we experienced it as if there was a shooter. The school waited the rest of the 4 years until my grade graduated to do another drill due to how traumatic it was for a lot of us. I can’t imagine what it would be like had it been a real shooter, but its wild that shootings are so common that even just a false alarm has to be taken seriously enough to lead to a traumatic event for kids

I was in kindergarten in 2012. I’ve never not been scared to go to school. My high school had so many shooter threats and we never missed a day for it.

i am IT support for a school district, and every year we do "violent critical incident" training. there's a bit of the training that uses sheep and wolves to explain to the early childhood students (3-5yo) what they need to do in these situations and it always fills me with a dread i can't explain. we've had so many lockdowns and threats that i'm definitely starting to feel numb to it, but i have to keep shaking myself to take it all seriously because what if the next threat is the real deal and i have to jump into action? i hate it here.

My older cousin was in a school shooting a little over ten years ago, she was 14 at the time and had known the shooter and one of the victims. It's the worst school shooting our state has seen, and I also think to myself weird things like "thank god it wasn't as bad as [redacted]" which is incredibly bizarre to me. I understand (to some extent) and empathize with you.

love the idea of Jordan streaming as he studies. Glad y’all are well.

I know two different people who survived two different school shootings. One of them is my brother. That's too many, and still, every time I hear it on the news I think at least it's not in my state. How callous is that? But it's a survival skill at this point. If I stopped and remembered that pure unadulterated panic I felt when my brother called on the phone, every time a shooting happened, I just wouldn't be able to function.

I have no idea how to describe this properly but it was like super cutsie to see how comfortable Jordan was to just chat and make little jabs at Connor that you only do with an actual friend. Not that other folks that have been on the pod aren’t actual friends. idk there was an ease to their back and forth that was sweet to see, especially since Jordan has expressed how he fears he puts on too much of a character for the camera. idk man idk. just something about friends doin’ friend stuff gives me the warm fuzzies.

glad you are safe and back
