If you are licensed to drive a car, you are legally allowed to operate recreational watercraft. I took driver's ed when I was 14, so that's a great combo.

Also on the watching people stream reality shows thing, I think it’s really good for feeling like you’re watching a show with a friend and making little jokes and asides to each other, especially if you can’t socialise much due to distance, mental health issues etc (at least for me)

2023-09-23 20:49:39 +0000 UTCpersonally i think consumption, generally speaking, is just inherently biased towards comfort. like re-engaging with media you like (maybe with added commentary, critique, or analysis) doesnt seem meaningfully different from repeating a meal you like (maybe with added seasoning, spices, or sauces). of course for some people it is a genuine coping mechanism, but i think perpetuating the idea that normal behavioral patterns are actually maladaptive symptoms that need to be treated is kinda pharmaganda also not saying that yall were doing that here by any means i just see that a lot and wanted to write about it, thanks for the ep!!

It's basically the video version of remixing a song or sampling. It alters the context enough to introduce a new perspective. there's also an introverted urge (relatable) to like passively consume content wherein someone else establishes context through their commentary.
