OH MY GOD! THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I'VE SEEN ANYONE ELSE MENTION M.C. KIDS! Holy shit, every time I've mentioned it to anyone they've stared at me like I have three heads. I didn't think I could love BDG more, but I do. I played that game so much - it's probably my third most-played game after Super Mario 1 and 3. For a McDonalds NES game, it's pretty damn good.

I love when Brian talked about his mom's experience with playing games and strafing around until she felt motion sick as well as the part about OoT z-targeting. My fiance's mom got into pokemon go in 2019 and through that and her daughter moving in with her and playing pokemon on her switch, we ended up gifting his mom a switch. She has since gone on to play games like BoTW and TotK and it's been a fascinating journey to watch her learn. There was so many things I thought was "intuitive controls" that I am discovering are only intuitive because of years of exposure and growing with control innovations in gaming. She experienced the first 10h of BoTW only strafing and z-targeting and we didn't realize until she was asking for help with a talus and my fiance and I were like WHAT ARE YOU DOING??? We have since brought our level down to hers so we can teach her more and she is now like 150h in TotK having so much fun.

Last Voyage of the Demeter is an interesting one; it's based on a particular chapter of the novel Dracula in which a few journal entries from the doomed ship's captain fill in the details of the ship's unwitting transportation of Dracula from Romania to England. My wife is a big fan (shouts to #dracula daily on Tumblr) and had a LOT to say about how they adapted that part of the book. Decent movie, 3,5/5.

Eddie Ackerman

ooooo I recognized him from Dropout

I’m so happy someone finally mentioned Dredge. I think that’s been a slept on indie game, it’s soo good

this sounds like a manufacturing defect! your friend can 100% get a refund or a replacement but if they have more information or a pic that would be super helpful for us - you can send to jarvisjohnsonbiz@gmail.com

Sad Boyz

Hey guys just wanted to let you know my friend who doesn't have a patreon account bought one of Jarvis' sweaters and it fell apart at the seams on the left sleeve. They don't want a refund or anything, just to lyk that some of the products aren't very quality

I admit I save scum a lot, especially on roleplaying games. Because sometimes you read the dialogue option and you think your character is going to say "i'm glad you're ok" and it instead says something like "i'm glad you're ok so I can kick your ass" lol So if I pick a dialogue option that has nothing to do with my character's personality, I'll save scum.

natmcartes

They’re right, if the ramen noodle blanket ever left… my loyalties would be tested 🤣

On the topic of save-scumming, I find it so hard to not do it even when I can know in my heart of hearts that I'd enjoy the stakes and whatnot that just going with the flow can add. There's only ever been one exception, where not save-scumming was easy and natural for me, and that's Disco Elysium. Best-written game of all time, everyone please go play it thank you bye.

Damn, I need to play Dredge and Dave the Diver! Edge of Tomorrow is one of my fav movies, but for the longest time, I couldnt remember the title. I also saw Jordan Adika at the Queef Jerky show, but me and my bf have social anxiety! All youtubers are taller than expected

TentaBat

The Sad Boyz/BDG/Dropout crossover girlies are so real. This show is so fun, what a delight.

Taylor White

thank you briannnn

It’s always so fascinating hearing people like these guys talk so passionately about video games. Growing up all the video game consoles (until we got a Wii in 2007 that was declared “the Family Wii) all the consoles were technically my brother’s and he was very territorial of them. It also didn’t help that most games we had only had one save slot, so if my brother played on it I wasn't allowed to (I also didn’t understand the concept of memory cards all too well so I never asked for my own). Now that I'm an adult and have invested money into a gaming PC I've downloaded different emulators for systems we had as a kid so I could get that experience i didn't as a child. I also really enjoy just watching people play games, as how i absorbed video game content as a kid was watching my brother play, so for some games i get overwhelmed by the choices needed to be made and stop playing.

for a split second that power ranger cosplayer sounded like brian, i thought yall were pranking us

Thanks Brian!

from what I understand about tokusatsu productions, at a certain point in production you could barely see out of the old masks and they'd actually need a little hole near/around the eyes to actually see through them. if you look up the original ultraman and kamen rider masks they're a bit more obvious but as the years have gone on they've done more stuff like tinted plastic or.. I think something similar to one-way mirror?

i teach high school in LA where our schools were closed/remote for almost a year and a half and the pandemic children are in fact, deeply developmentally affected. it's getting incrementally better each year but it is chaotic (and the bullying is also weird)

Victoria Gray

As a younger person who didn't grow up with N64 and previous, it's genuinely hard to play games of that era because I don't have any nostalgia tied to it, and my gaming foundations are already above how those games were designed. I have OoT on my 3ds, and its honestly nerd homework to play, because of how used to games like BOTW I am

Mackenzie DeMello

my partner’s mum got really into animal crossing new horizons and wanted to try out new games so we spent like a full day trying to teach her how to play minecraft bc it’s honestly pretty unintuitive for a new player - and that’s a game that a lot of kids play. it’s crazy how many video game developers don’t consider that their game might be the first game someone plays. i think it stops a lot of women especially from getting into games if they haven’t been exposed to them as kids.

Rai

Hell yeah, Dropout! ^0^

Nicole Benson

Ha, I love BDG! Glad to see him on the show!!

Shannon S.

Thanks Gilbert ❤️

Really loved the discussions of video games! I never played the classic video games as a kid, but my boyfriend did, so I heavily relate to the challenges of learning as an adult, compared to learning when you’re young 🎮 such a great hobby though, and cozy games have become some of my favorites, but I have some looter shooters I enjoy too. ✨

Miya Williams

I can't express the immense joy it brings me to know that Jordan likes Barotrauma. Such a good game that deserves so much attention.

Pansagi

Thank you Brian!

Frank

this is for the BOYZ ONLY!!! i thought this episode was good :)

Re Cosplay: A lot of cosplayers are getting still photography done so the quality has to look at every angle and at high rez. Also serious cosplays will have a "handler" so if they can't see too well because of a mask, they can still make their way around

OctoCrafty

thank you jordan for acknowledging the people who listen to the patreon eps first 🫡 i always do so i can watch the main ep on my tv before bed

Cam

Thank you Brian!

Shavon Nand

Fire Emblem dialogue trees are so good that i could never play hardcore mode because i didn’t want to lose anyone🥲

Skylar Grey

Thanks Brian!! Also your video games conversations throughout were so fun and thoughtful--great episode!
