I’m so late to this, but the amount of times I let myself get reckless in Lansing and kissed people I had no business kissing is wild. So I feellll you on that. My friends were just as much trash as I was so unfortunately no one intervened. I still live in the area, but I know longer play it so fast and loose with my safety.

So many white people, (unfortunately) mostly men, firmly believe lotion is “training” your skin to not rely on its own natural oils and so it dries your skin out more. And then I’m just here like ??????? Not at all, put some damn lotion on????

2023-05-18 17:10:54 +0000 UTCits not though, its just emotional abuse. all abusive people are abusive because theyre just abusive. the reason those specific support groups exist is because of how crazy npd stigma is. the ammount of people just diagnosing their abusers as ’narcissists’ and claiming theyre experiencing ’narcissistic abuse’ doesnt add up at all with how many people actually have npd. not to mention that if you actually have npd and tell people about it theyll label you as a bad person and leave regardless of anything youve done or who you are as a person. im sorry your partner was abusive and ptsd sucks. but he wasnt abusive because npd makes you an abusive person. hes just abusive and has npd.

As someone with multiple PDs and friends with PDs (including NPD), the idea that NPD is an ’abuser’ or ’scary bad person disorder’ is mainstream to the point even well meaning people parrot stigma. I think it comes from the really poor name choice, using a negative term for the name of a disorder and the coining of ’narcissistic abuse’. NPD is a trauma based personality disorder that makes people with it ashamed to not be perfect and well liked by others, it is conflated through stigmatized ’wellness’ talk and a recent trend of pathologizing relationships with actual cult leaders. lovebombing is a cult tactic, if we pretend this guy is actually someone with NPD, he states he wants to be a good person and hes rethinking his friendships. He was probably actually trying to compliment kendall the only way he knows how which comes off weird because pwNPD are conditioned, usually by their parents, that they are only worthy through proving their love and being perfect superficially. This doesn’t mean anyone should stay in a relationship with someone that makes them uncomfortable (or that this guy isn’t weird as fuck). Just that NPD isn’t ’malicious intent’ disorder, it’s your way of connecting being maladaptive because of your upbringing. It does not mean they’re going to be toxic or ’bad’. The term ’narcissistic abuse’ was never mentioned but this route of thinking of NPD always comes from people weilding that term in the first place. ’Narcissistic abuse’ is just abuse, it would be like labling people who hurt you with other disorders. If people said ’bipolar abuse’ or ’autistic abuse’ that would be equally appalling to hear. Best way to learn about NPD (and ASPD, because it has similar ’bad person disorder’ stigma) is through personal blogs by people with them. Anything you hear by ’professionals’ or goddamn psych2go is going to have ableist fearmongering because the psych field is deeply flawed and full of outdated thinking.

During that day I was kinda feeling down, just a bummer of a day, and I felt this podcast would bring me out of some of those feelings which it did. I think my favorite part of the podcast was the dating story at the end, and the Iran joke was a good one. Very good, can't wait until the next episode!

I forgot she told me in passing that she met me when she was on the verge of getting back together with her ex. through our whole relationship would tell her ex EVERYTHING about me, down to personal details about my dad passing away when I was a kid??? Its been literally years, Im in a healthy relationship now and Ive moved on but I thought I had a good understanding of her manipulation but didn’t quite put the pieces together and thanks to kendalls parallel horror story, I finally get it all lmao.
