Question: Should I post a Hi-Res image directly as a thumbnail? What is a pros and cons?

ohhhh I remember browsing my older posts and the thumbnail quality got a lot worse. I guess it was Patreon lower thumbnail quality in older posts to save space. Good catch! I think I will keep upload Hi-Res file as attachment :)

2022-01-09 06:17:34 +0000 UTCEdit: upload this attachment again as a thumbnail post, and we can compare the files. :) I worry that if there's only the thumbnail, we lose both the image quality and descriptive filename. This preview here is downscaled and just called 1.png, but that might depend on how you do the upload/post. Thumbnails are processed down for faster loading, that's their function. Usually they get a different filename too, just a serial number. I like knowing the copy I have is the exact original, not one that got processed down for web hosting reasons. The visual difference might also be noticeable if you set up a comparison, though it depends on screen and stuff.
