This month is about cameras!

Video ended up being a bit longer than expected but hopefully it's packed with lots of information.

I added bookmarks to the YouTube video in case you want to check out specific parts of it.

Let me know what you guys/gals think!

03 Camera Animation Techniques in Cinema 4D

Comments

Hey, so I was actually training on this video and had the same problem. Here's a solution I found: On the Align to Spline button, click on "Tangential" and the axis should be on 'X', at least on my project that is, Then you should be able to rotate using the radius parameter.

Abdoulaye Barry

hey there! it's been a while since I made this tutorial but taking a quick look at the timecode you provided it looks like I am animating the rotation of the circle spline which will also rotate camera since it is attached to that spline. Hopefully that answers your question, if not feel free to DM me and we can go more into it. Thanks!

Jesus Suarez

Hi Jesus! Maybe it's a stupid question, but how did you rotate the camera angle to the left at the start of animation for second frame (18:05) it doesn't allow me to rotate it because of Target tag. In first frame I used Null object to control the rotation of camera angle but you did it in different way. Could you please share that?

So sick man,

Ryan Vaughan

Hi again ,you may be able to load the layout file you use in cinema4d. Thank you so much

Ignacio Barbé

Hey Ignacio thanks for your support and glad you liked the video. I don't offer files in my Patreon. Maybe in the future I'll open a new tier for that but at the moment it's just video for the most part. Thanks!

Jesus Suarez

Very good, I would like to see more videos about camera animations and animated product also with simple files to download. thank you

Ignacio Barbé

Thank you Shannon! Glad you liked it! 🙏

You can go to View > new view panel and then dock that anywhere in the layout and set it to be a perspective view our any ortho view. I think you should be able to do so with r20

Jesus Suarez

That was great these are some of the techniques that have been eluding me when doing camera animation. I enjoyed this thank you.

Shannon Wilkerson

This is going to be a dumb question, but how do I set up multiple perspective views like you have in the video, that allows you to change the cameras you can choose? I'm still in R20 unfortunately.

Shannon Wilkerson

Thanks for the kind words Jason! And yeah you are totally right, I use that function for really long timelines and loops but it could definitely be used in this situation as well. thank you!

Jesus Suarez

Hey Jesus! Thanks for making this! I learned some stuff I didn’t know which is always great! That mute keyframes button is 👌. On your last tip, if you use the Functions> Track Before / After>Continue After, it will continue the tangent of the last key frame. Could save you a couple clicks! Thanks again!

Jason Hadley

Glad you liked it Olivier! Thanks for the feedback!!

Jesus Suarez

Thanks for this video , it was very interssing. I can't wait for the next month course :)

Olivier Beaugrand

Not at all, hit me up on dm

Jesus Suarez

This is so cool! I'd love to try your C4D layout. Do you mind sharing that layout file?

Daniel Ascanio

Thank you Jeremy! Yes it's very flexible for sure. Super useful! Glad you liked it.

Jesus Suarez

I love that align to spline rig on the circle! Such a good idea, Jesus.
