Safety
Added 2024-01-14 23:36:37 +0000 UTCJust covering all my bases here. Anything you see on this site was created with my previous consent or ongoing consent while it was happening, safety scissors if rope or bdsm type things involved, a way to communicate if mouth is covered, other parties around to help and monitor, photographers I usually work with and know or have thoroughly vetted. I don't work with anyone who has never done rope or binding type work before. If you see anything that looks shocking, it's made to look shocking for camera and art. I take all measures to ensure I am perfectly safe and speak up when I need to. Yes, sometimes things happen, but accidents happen in any line of work. It's important to do planning and communication ahead of time to minimize after effects of any accidents. Most (though not all) photographers also do a great job of knowing safety protocols and even help take care of me in moments when I push in an unsafe way to get the shot. Example that comes to mind: James Ellingen made me get out of the water during a waterfall shoot after periods of time so that I did not get hypothermia. It was hot outside and it did not even come to mind to worry about that. But, the water was colder than the outside temperature and once I got out I realized I WAS cold. I've also jumped onto a nail with filthy feet in a falling down house and the photographer paid for me to get a tetanus shot at the drug store on the way home. One time a photographer had low blood sugar and was sweating and turning pretty out of it, but I recognized what was happening and got him some food. We had to cut the shoot short. So, when all parties are working together to keep everyone safe, it's as safe as it can be. These things are really important and thanks for bringing it up so that I could share about the importance of safety. MODELS READING THIS: NEVER DO ANYTHING YOU DON'T WANT TO DO or don't feel safe about. It's as simple as that. There will always be more (safe) ideas and more (safe) photographers. There's always an alternative.

Appreciate this post. I donβt think safety precautions are mentioned often or examples of what it actually looks like in practice in some scenarios/concepts. Good reminder that itβs always a necessary step in planning and there is shared responsibility.
