Dave Levingston drove up today for a body paint shoot. His concept, but my friend Megyen painted me. (She did a great job for not being an artistic type person.) I'm trying to be clear and consistent with my limits and boundaries and even though I've shot with Dave before several times, moving forward, I don't want photographers touching me (which is standard with most models and not something odd), so I thought it best to have her paint me with his direction versus him painting me. It was a good thing I had arranged her to help, because she basically had to use her fingers and hands instead of a brush to get the paint on me the right way. We started with a white finger width geometric shape outline and then black and red fill in. Head to knees. Took maybe an hour? The paint was mixed with baby oil instead of water (Dave's idea and concept), so that it would stay liquidy to move it around after taking some shots of the geometric shapes first. Megyen literally poured baby oil on me and I smooshed it all around. It was a mess. And, stayed a sticky mess in my clothes (which I dug out of my goodwill bag and trashed afterwards). Took me an hour shower, half a bar of soap, 3 makeup remover wipes, cleaning my shower, and I'm still stained. lol Add this to the list of crazy things I've done for art. I did learn something about lighting, though, from today's shoot, so I might be able to implement it in self portrait shoots.
Fun facts: I peed in the restroom (at my studio building) afterwards and then had to get a cleaning wipe because my butt left red and black paint all over the toilet seat. lol
