Seventeen Project: Debut Big Plan Ep.3

The units were so much fun! You could tell the crowd was into their performance. We're glad to see things went a little smoother for them in this one ❤️

10 years on and I still feel like the vocal team were the stand-out performance for me

LilMeowWow

And now because every member stands out. We carats have a hard time picking a bias.🤣🤣🤣

Rinsol Desal

Hahaha sammmee!!! A lot of cringing but you just can't help but adore baby SVT

Rinsol Desal

Everytime I rewatched 17project, I was so curious that the performances they and I watched were not the same 🥲. Thank Seventeen for not losing their confidence after that

Now that I've watched to the end it was not as bad as I thought, though I still disagree with Jessie, because I feel they did stand out. There were groups at this time that debut that are not as well rounded. I do appreciate the one producer stepping in to say how hands on they are and that was unheard of predebut. Hip Hop Team definitely was the most engaged. They all did great, and I loved how they cheered each other on. Oh and glad no one listened to Jessie about Hanni cutting his hair...that hair was/is iconic!

I haven't even finished the video yet, just watched the vocal unit...and aside from being DK biased I really can objectively say as someone who has sung professionally nd been in the business that was an amazing performance! The harmonies were lovely, the arrangement of the vocals and the production were beautiful (well done Woozi, the musical genius), and they all sounded strong and stable. (btw love when Shua sings in his lower register) With that said, the only thing I noticed was Shua & DK did look a bit nervous (DK more so) but still sounded amazing, so anything the judges said outside of maybe working on the "performance" element was for the "views" and drama of it all. Like someone mentioned above 17 as whole can do it all, but DK & Boo really are some of the most amazing vocalist in all of KPOP, and in music. They hit gold having these 2 in one group. Also keep in mind these boys are singing like this in their teens. I am really blown away! Love this group so much, they are all so amazing. Oh and I love the way Hoshi creates, he is really a performance genius as well.

Something that always baffled me about Jessi's criticisms for vocal unit is that she's like, you guys sound different apart, but when you sing together no one stands out. It's like, yeah bud, that's what a harmony is???? Like, I know you're a rapper but you've gotta know what the point of singing in harmony is lmao

Lauren S

will you do seventeen lolla?

mishka

This week it will be Friday!

B&T React

That's the best news 😭

B&T React

When I first watched this episode I was so amazed like what do you mean they haven't debuted yet they're amazing 😭 especially vocal team their voices sent me to heaven it was such a high level performance that u wouldn't think they are just rookie singers I made my friends watched this performance and they were so shocked like most of us knows Because Of You by AfterSchool (that judge Raina's group) it was a popular song back in gen2 and they recreated it so perfectly that all of us was just speechless 😭

QuinnieHae

I remember wanting to choke slam Jessi this episode when I first watched it...and BIG SURPRISE, I wanted to choke slam Jessi when I rewatched it as well lol. I love her, don't get me wrong, but she came at babyteen and needs to be set right. =P

Okay re-watching this with you guys is making me oscillate between cooing at baby svt and cringing at baby svt LMFAO Also yeah highly disagree with the judges on many points BUT i kinda see where they're coming from? At the time, not much was known about SVT and they needed that 'explosive' factor for them to stand out while other groups from much bigger companies were doing that effortlessly. I think it's also because SVT's initial concept was that basic bad boy look that most 3rd gen boygroups at the time were going for. But right on debut, they changed their image up entirely, bringing in a fresh youthful concept that hit it big with general public. But also I'm pretty sure from here on out, the episodes get a lot easier to handle and there's less and less criticism against the boys, so there's that. Looking fwd to next week!

right? right? vocal team performance was so good! the first time i watched it, i remember thinking they were so ready to debut with that singing, just for the judges to break their hearts and my heart! if i was there in person i would have definitely became a fan instantly! the talent was talenting!! it's still my favorite i still listen to it! half of the views on youtube are from me lol

jeonghan’s noona

Seeing DK cry and lose his confidence is probably the worst thing on earth bc we know how much of a sunshine he is 😭 I hate how they always compare DK and Seungkwan who are both extremely talented in their own right. Like having both Mariah and Whitney in your group is INSANE looool. I still to this day don't agree with what the judges said about the vocal unit, they all stood out, Joshua on the guitar singing and Woozi and Jeonghan sounded amazing as well. The harmonies were beautiful and all of this before debut?! Make it make sense. Fast forward to today and the vocal unit gotta be if not the best vocals in all of kpop. 😭

irie

Literally self producing idols in every way possible… making their own stickers to promote themselves and asking if they have extra time to ask bystanders come see the show

Nezi K

I was so proud of all of them in this mission - words from the judges aside, I think they cleared this mission amazingly. Those moves, those harmonies, the raps and the stage presence? For a group who has not debuted yet, I think what they showcased was absolutely amazing. My heart was so happy and proud of baby seventeen. Also, for the last parts with the samgyupsal meal, I think it was the prize but instead of just having it with hip hop unit only, they extended it for everybody so it made me happy - still a family sharing the delicious meal together. Excited to rewatch with you again next week! Also, happy birthday Bri! Hope you had a lovely one.

Meanwhile here i am still listening this vocal unit performance in youtube and enjoy itt

I've watched 17 Project several times now and, I'm gonna be honest, the comments from Raina and Jessi in this episode are the ones that I can't still understand and agree with no matter how I try. I think the Vocal Unit members were able to showcase their different vocal colors while having a beautiful harmony. I also definitely heard (and saw) both DK and Seungkwan belting and doing adlibs, with Woozi too, throughout the song... As for Hiphop Unit, they surely got long solo moments too. They performed 2 songs, like how did Jessi not hear their own rap vocals and styles, esp. Vernon when he had the longest exposure? Any ways, I still hate the prod team for making DK cry intentionally. They obviously fueled the fire to make him cry on screen... Haha I'm sorry. I got heated. Btw, belated happy brithday, Bri!^^

Unfortunately DK had many times felt "not good enough". He's really sensitive, our sunshine baby. They all slayed their performances. I love how whatever you're feeling watching this, we've ALL felt and still feel no matter how many times we rewatch lol

13plus3plus1

i don't know what to tell y'all but if you manage to make deekay cry and wipes the smile off of that cutieful pure sunshine face, you are nothing but evil with a black heart and need to be sent to jail straight. SHAME ON YOU (anyone who hurt dk). but in all seriousness, watching this and see how they are now makes me feel nothing but proud. they have come so far.

Aurora Mia

WOOOOOOO

ela

To be honest, I was quite upset with how Jessie used her words to judge the members, and you could feel that she was biased toward Vernon. BUT! That's just Jessie being Jessie. After watching her on several variety shows, I can tell that she’s just like that and didn’t mean to hurt anyone with her choice of words. Whenever I rewatch Seventeen Project, even now, I still feel hurt by the criticisms they received back then. But in the back of my mind, I always think, "WOW! THEY ARE SO SUCCESSFUL NOW" Those criticisms really became part of their success. I am so proud of SEVENTEEN!

17ismyhome

I also made it out with minimal snot so yayy😭😭😂 I enjoyed all of the performances tbh and I agree with your thoughts on each. Dk crying is not something I ever want to see again! Thank you so much❤

Kena

this episode really makes me so proud of the current svt especially dk. he went from doubting his vocal skills to becoming one of the best-if not THE BEST- vocalist in the industry and that just made me cry every time. 😭 I also don't agree with the judges on their vocal unit feedback because gurl??? I still get goosebumps whenever I listen to their performance. Their harmony and vocal ability for a group that hasn't debut yet was already insane.

wonusom_
