Wow, just under 200 supporters... not far now to the point when I can have the parts for the planned 175 lb full size crossbow bolt shooter made from metal (laser or water cutter job).
This means it is time for another test device, so I get the mechanics right. My brother, the physicist, figured out that I'll need a transmission for my 100 Nm 36 V Bosch battery drill so it can cock back the weapon in first gear. This means two more toothed wheels. Opted for a 15:40 transmission. The power stroke of the crossbow limbs I want to use is 10", plus another inch for the trigger/sear makes 11" cocking distance.
Sawed the parts out from plywood. Those won't work for 175 lb of course, but I need to figure out the dimensions of the parts before I can draw the final blueprints and send them to a laser cutter service.
All designed with Matthias Wandel's "Gear Generator" software! Best 25 $ I ever spend :)
