I need help!!!

The thing is, this person sent me a very large payment, but now I've received a Gmail from PayPal telling me I need to deposit $300 as a refund of my own money. That's the only way they'll give me that payment. Is this a scam?
Well, now that I've looked at it carefully, no withheld payment has been received in my account, so I guess it's a scam, right? Can you tell me just in case?
By the way, do you think I should change my Gmail from PayPal, in case it's a scammer?
