Chapter 84: Cultivating Trusted Allies
"Uchiha Hachidai, Uchiha Inaho, Uchiha Tetsuka, thank you, Captain Fugaku, and thank you, Captain Yosuke!"
Inside the tent, the young chunin Uchiha Inaho and Uchiha Tetsuka, who had just awakened their Sharingan, shouted excitedly, now addressing Yosuke as their captain—a sign of their recognition.
Even Uchiha Hachidai showed proper respect, and seeing this made Uchiha Yosuke smile. This was just the beginning, the start of taking control of his own destiny and realizing his dreams.
Uchiha Fugaku, rather than feeling any dissatisfaction, smiled approvingly as he watched Uchiha Yosuke cultivate his allies. Fugaku understood well Yosuke's contributions to the clan and his character. He would be a trusted partner once Fugaku eventually became the clan leader.
"Yosuke, be careful with this mission."
"Thank you for your concern, Fugaku."
Yosuke left the tent with a smile, followed by the three others. Though it was a rainy day, his mood was as bright as a blossoming flower.
"Captain Yosuke, should this mission be kept confidential?" asked Uchiha Hachidai seriously as they walked over the muddy ground. Unlike the enthusiastic Inaho and Tetsuka, Hachidai maintained a thoughtful expression, carefully questioning the mission’s details.
Yosuke, ever approachable, began explaining the mission’s objective. When he finished, Inaho and Tetsuka looked at each other with newfound solemnity.
"Captain Yosuke, rest assured, we will protect the mine and complete the mission."
Seeing their earnest expressions, Yosuke exchanged a knowing smile with Hachidai.
"This mission is more than it appears," Yosuke continued, "Our teammates on this mission include members of the Senju, Hyuga, and Aburame clans. Building trust with them is crucial."
The young chunin hadn’t considered these deeper implications, and realizing it now, their eyes lit up with excitement.
"You three were carefully chosen by me—not just for your skills, but because of your strong hearts!"
Encouraged by Yosuke’s words, Inaho and Tetsuka grew more determined. They would be willing to face any challenge if it meant proving themselves.
"Our clan's reputation within the village isn’t ideal, as you know," Yosuke continued, "but I believe you can handle it."
"And our teammates on this mission are trustworthy. I trust all of you."
Yosuke’s encouragement made Inaho and Tetsuka nod firmly. They were determined not to tarnish the Uchiha’s honor.
"Captain Yosuke, we won’t let down the Uchiha!"
"Good. Go prepare. We leave at dawn."
"Yes!"
After motivating them, Yosuke watched the two young men depart, their energy renewed. Meanwhile, Hachidai had remained calm, analyzing the situation.
"Captain Yosuke, is there anything else we need to know about the mission?" Hachidai asked quietly.
Yosuke’s smile grew; Hachidai was perceptive, even catching the underlying nuances of this assignment.
"Hachidai, I know of your accomplishments in the police force. I’m relying on you to foster positive relations between our clan and the others, as well as to ensure the mining task goes smoothly."
With this supportive message, Yosuke conveyed that Hachidai's calm and analytical mind was something he valued—a strength that, though not exceptional in raw talent, was worthy of investment.
Though Hachidai was no top-tier elite, at his age, he was well-respected as a special jōnin with two tomoe Sharingan—a formidable ally. Hearing Yosuke’s words, Hachidai nodded earnestly.
"Captain Yosuke, I understand. I’ll make sure Inaho and Tetsuka handle their team relations, and I’ll watch over the rest."
Hachidai understood perfectly; though Inaho and Tetsuka would follow orders, their pride might make it challenging to connect with other non-Uchiha comrades. Hachidai’s experience would be essential in bridging these gaps.
It’s a great feeling to have a capable ally who can share the workload. Yosuke nodded with a relaxed smile, "Thanks, Hachidai—you’re our senior in mission experience."
"Captain Yosuke, you're too kind."
After a short exchange, both understood each other better, strengthening their mutual trust.
As Hachidai left, Yosuke smiled in satisfaction, thinking, "Two talented, promising young chunin and a seasoned, level-headed special jōnin."
Uchiha Inaho and Tetsuka could be molded into loyal, reliable fighters, while Hachidai was grateful for this final opportunity to prove himself.
"Time to meet the rest of the team. Long-term missions require solid relationships," Yosuke thought, smiling as he ventured into the rain to greet the others—first the elite clan members like the Hyuga and Senju, then the talent
ed civilians. Building rapport now would make future teamwork smoother.
