Chapter 83: Uchiha Fugaku's Approval
In the command tent...
Uchiha Yosuke looked over the scroll’s contents, then smiled as he pointed out three individuals. This caused Uchiha Fugaku to raise an eyebrow—Yosuke truly had a keen eye.
“Well then!” Fugaku nodded seriously. “Tekka and Inabi are promising clan talents who have awakened the Sharingan. Yatsushiro, a member of the Security Division, is skilled in analysis—a rare, level-headed thinker.”
The three people Yosuke selected—one special Jonin and two Chunin—were also those Fugaku admired, especially Yatsushiro, whose calm nature Fugaku had initially hoped to recruit himself.
However, feeling some guilt toward Yosuke, Fugaku generously yielded them. After all, talent alone wasn't enough; resources were necessary for development, and the Uchiha clan never lacked for talent.
"Thank you very much, Fugaku-san," Yosuke responded with a smile.
While reviewing the front-line roster of Uchiha elites, Yosuke had noticed these three names. Although they were minor characters in the original story, they stood out to him as elite Uchihas worthy of note.
In the original story, after Shisui's death, these three elite clan members had sought out Uchiha Itachi, even if they were not strong enough to confront him.
But knowing that these three would become Jonin and possess three-tomoe Sharingan made their potential quite appealing to Yosuke.
The ninja world has seen many young talents who dazzled in the early stages, only to fade over time, remaining at the rank of Chunin or special Jonin their whole lives.
Jonin rank is a significant hurdle, one that countless shinobi fail to surpass.
Take Anko Mitarashi, for example. Though noticed by Orochimaru at a young age as a remarkable talent who graduated at ten and became a Chunin at twelve, she ultimately never advanced beyond special Jonin status.
“Yosuke-kun, please wait. I've already summoned these three," Fugaku said.
Outside, the rain fell steadily, and the sound of droplets on the tent added a sense of confinement. Fugaku, however, used the moment to pull out a red book from his equipment pouch, smiling as he raised it teasingly.
"This book you wrote, Yosuke-kun, offers an outsider's perspective on Konoha and even on the Uchiha clan itself...I found it enlightening."
“I’ve never looked at the Uchiha from an outsider’s perspective before,” Fugaku continued, captivated by the fourth chapter, “In Konoha,” which had even gotten him talking more than usual.
To Fugaku, Yosuke was like a kindred spirit.
As a young heir, Fugaku had long shouldered immense pressure, and over time, he became aware of the challenges between the Uchiha and the village. Feeling uncertain, Yosuke’s presence gave him guidance.
The Uchiha clan was finally taking that critical step forward, and Yosuke’s book helped him understand that the clan's pride was more profound than just arrogance—it was something only an insider could truly grasp.
It was becoming clearer to him: the Uchiha needed change.
For Fugaku, Yosuke was like a guiding light illuminating a new path for the clan.
“You’re too kind, Fugaku-san. I merely wanted to share my own story,” Yosuke replied, shaking his head with a sigh.
“I hope it will help others understand the Uchiha, shinobi, and the brutal reality of war.”
Yosuke paused, his tone softening. “I am just one person searching for peace in a world full of confusion. While I might not find it alone, I believe there are countless others in the shinobi world who yearn for peace. One day, we will find true hope for peace.”
Seeing Yosuke’s determination, Fugaku felt humbled. While his vision was limited to the clan and the village, Yosuke’s view encompassed the entire shinobi world.
Hearing talk of peace from most people would make Fugaku scoff, but coming from Yosuke, it made him ponder. Holding the red book, he had an unshakeable feeling that Yosuke might indeed be the one to bring peace to the shinobi world.
“Captain Fugaku!”
At that moment, a voice from outside interrupted the deep connection between the two.
Outside the tent, three Uchiha clan members stood, feeling both nervous and excited.
The older one, Yatsushiro, with his unusual brown hair, reassured the two younger ones beside him. “Don’t worry, you both have the talent and potential to receive clan training.”
Although the great clans had more resources than civilians, they still prioritized where resources went. Fairness, after all, only existed among equals.
With the reassurance of special Jonin Yatsushiro, the youngest, Tekka, nervously asked in a low voice, “Yatsushiro-senpai, any advice?”
Inabi also nodded respectfully, bowing slightly. Yatsushiro hesitated briefly but leaned in, speaking in a low voice.
"Before coming here, I heard that Yosuke was meeting with the clan heir, and that Elder Setsuna has passed away."
Though he didn't say more, the two younger men understood the implication.
“Thank you, Yatsushiro-senpai!”
Tekka and Inabi exchanged a glance, both feeling secretly pleased. Being young, they naturally leaned toward the “hawk faction.”
The hawk faction doesn’t necessarily mean rebellion but rather signifies a bold and decisive style—like Yosuke’s bold solo infiltration into the Land of Grass, which had earned him significant respect among the Uchiha hawks.
Meanwhile, Fugaku was seen as the natural successor to the clan leader, with his loyal followers.
Now aware that offering support early could be more valuable than aligning with him later, Yatsushiro analyzed the situation, curious about Yosuke’s interest in him.
