Patreon’s Final Month, New Puzzle Pieces, & Full Game Announcements Soon

Hey everyone, we have a few exciting announcements to make!

1. New Puzzle Piece Shapes

Over the last two weeks, we’ve quietly been releasing Patreon puzzles using a whole new Puzzle Piece shape! These pieces are much more “puzzley”, meaning, they have those all-too-familiar puzzle piece tabs and indentations.

These new puzzle piece shapes introduce a new and important aspect to puzzling: the ability to match the shapes of the pieces rather than just their color (which was much more apparent with the straight-edge puzzle piece shapes of before).

It’s taken us quite a lot of development work for the puzzles to look this way and we’re still fine-tuning some aspects of the shapes, but we hope you really enjoy it!

2. July is the Final Month of Patreon Puzzles

The Puzzling Places Patreon has been an incredible way for us to be able to learn, experiment, and provide new puzzles for all of you early adopters of Puzzling Places. Your feedback and support has been monumental in shaping the game into what it is today. We’re now in the final stretch of development for Puzzling Places, so we’re going to focus 100% of our time and effort into finishing the game.

As we’re getting closer to the release of the full Puzzling Places game on the Oculus Quest store, July will be the final month of Patreon puzzle releases.

To clarify, the July Puzzle is the last Monthly Tier puzzle (released today). There will be an additional 4 more Weekly Tier puzzles being released this month up until July 29th.

We will pause the billing cycle soon so that no one is charged for any months past July. However, the Patreon page will remain accessible both for current Patrons to continue to be able to download previously released puzzles as well as new members joining to play Patreon puzzles.

Thank you all for supporting us throughout the development cycle of this game. Again, we’re truly grateful and humbled by your continued support.

3. Puzzling Places - Release Details Coming Soon!

On the final Patreon puzzle release, we’ll be announcing a few exciting details about the full Puzzling Places game, including…. the release date!!

Stay tuned for more details!

Hey Janet, sorry to hear you are having issues using the Sidequest install. Could it be that you sign in into Patreon with Google / Apple / Facebook? In that case you need to set up a specific Patreon password. To do so, on the Patreon website click on the avatar icon up right, go to "My profile settings", there you can assign a password. Happy puzzling!

I’m a Patreon subscriber but I can’t get sidequest to install. It won’t accept my password for some reason. I’m so looking forward to being able to do the puzzles when they’re released.

What will be the price be when it comes out? And will you offer any kind of deal for patreons?

ooh tricky tricky this one. Very enjoyable although not as 3D as others

Glad you're enjoying the game as much as we are :)

Puzzling Places, alone, is reason enough to buy an Oculus Quest.

Thank you for the feedback! For future puzzles, we are definitely going to have a ton of "very 3D" puzzles that have all the feature that you mentioned that you loved. However, some of the larger, flatter, cityscapes can also be enjoyable for puzzlers that like to puzzle together massive chunks of the world. We will always try to create enough puzzles for everyone to find something that they truly love to puzzle :)

I love Puzzling Places very much. Thank you for creating such a beautiful game. I think both old and new puzzles are good. Huge puzzles (such as Tatev Monastery) give me a sense of accomplishment, but sometimes I just want to take a break... A simple 100 piece old puzzle can be a great comfort. If possible, I just hope that all future puzzles can be three-dimensional, such as kimono, cat on bench, Gothic Corner, YAMAHA motorcycle, Tsuruga Castle. As for Sea Wall Dam, Northumberlandia, and the American Suburbia, I think it’s too flat... because the puzzles in reality are almost flat, I would expect VR puzzles to be different.

We certainly hear you! You'll be able to play puzzles with a lot more pieces in the full game :)

Hi Stephen, Yes, in the full game, we have a feature for being able to rotate by rotating wit the grip buttons (similar to the locomotion). The thumbstick left/right will be used for another un-announced feature

Hi James, please please create some challenging large (preferable huge) puzzles:) relying only on the context of the image of the scenario rather than the unrelated shape of the puzzle. I've spent more time in this app than any other quest app, finding it a really chill experience and taking my time to find the correct piece

Hi guys, I just joined this Patreon just so I could make a comment/request here. Would it be possible to be able to use the right (or left) thumbstick to move around the space? I have a spinal injury and find it difficult to turn my head left and right too far. If I could use the thumb stick left/right to turn my view instead of having to reset my view each time to see the left or right parts of the screen it would help a lot. Also could we use the forward/back movement of the stick to move forwards and back? Regards Stephen

Congratulations! can't wait

Hey James, thanks so much! Right now we are mainly focused on the release (which will launch with its own set of new puzzles) but we definitely also already have plans for continuing to regularly release new puzzles - more on that after launch =)

Congratulaions on your upcoming full release of Puzzling Place into the Oculus Quest store. Hope it becomes one of the most popular purchases. Curious if you yet have a plan on how future puzzles will be added? Are there any specific plans forrelease frquency, cost, expansion packs, etc.? Thanks again for creativity and hardwork to make this happen. Wishing you great success with the full realse into in the Oculus Store!

Love the new puzzle pieces.

Agree with Randy. I love the weekly puzzles. Will new puzzles still come out weekly with the final release? Can you explain how it will work for us patreons.

When can we expect new puzzles? Will there be new ones in the final release? I've never really done many jigsaw puzzles, but you've created a 3D junkie! I need more! Give me more.... Seriously, you do a great job. I hope it sells like crazy.

Hi Niko, we're designing the full game to be compatible with the Patreon puzzles. However, since the Patreon puzzles are extra puzzles and will not be included in the full game, you will have to transfer the puzzles manually from the Beta app to the full game. It's a simple copy/paste process but we'll have the steps to do so when the full game launches :)

I gave You this one last, weekly-tier support. Just to get all remaining puzzles (finishing monthly tier ones tomorrow). Do we keep current Puzzling Places version with it's puzzles when You release official one?

Niko Mower

Yes, make it as an option.

Congrats on getting closer to the final release. It's been great to be able to support your development while getting extra puzzles to play with.

I'm not a big fan of the new puzzle piece shapes. They make the puzzles too easy after a certain point. I liked this game because it was different than a standard jigsaw puzzle, it felt more like assembling a little model. It would be great to have this as an option that can be toggled on/off.

Awesome. Lets go!
